If your vehicle does NOT have the AUX option please read the following. The CarPlay uses the AUX to play the sound through the system so if this isn't factory fitted an FM modulator is needed for the sound to play as if a radio station. Not a problem, but obviously an extra expense of roughly £75.

As I’m waiting on a proxi update for my aux in, what/where do I get or plug in for the fm transmitter? As a solution in the mean time?

I managed to have a good chat with Paul @Prestige yesterday about installing the system at my place...
It works better for him if he can do two jobs in the same day (to help make it worth his while travelling).
I'm based in Derby (i.e. the Midlands); is anyone else happy to buddy up for the installation? Even if you're not in the Midlands, e.g. Manchester, this would still 'halve' the distance compared with travelling all the way to St. Albans where Paul is based.
Saturdays/Sundays look like the best bet. (Although Sundays work better for me.) He even performs the work on the car of the person that has had to travel first, so that they can get away earlier rather than having to hang around at someone else's place all day!
... Any takers?
I’m in Stafford so not far from Derby, but i’m In the 2nd batch as well as the others who have replied - happy to team up with anyone in the area. I’ve got the loom from Prestige already, just waiting for the carplay unit now

I have just been trying to fit a dashcam, and noticed this on the box under the passenger foot well (looking for the fuse box). I think I read earlier in this thread that this CarPlay system isnt compatible with Bose? Does that mean it won't fit my car?

hey ho,

So ive just about installed my system, did a plug in everything not in proper test before I went ahead and fitted it properly, I do now have some issues id like to go over.

1. When the car first switches on, I just get a white screen, no stock system. is this normal? I assumed not, sound works when I turn on stereo, and will flick between sources.
I have checked the manual and as I have a granturismo I have the display plugs where they are supposed to be.. is it the same for all gt's or should I try swapping (haven't as I didn't want to kill stuff)
and it does flick to the new system when asked to, flicking back just freezes the display as it slowly turns white again.

2. I can no longer get the android system to work (it worked fine when I did a test fit), even tried using the reset button, display just says no input.5754057541

any help would be great..

Rob.

Edit ** How dirty do the buttons look using this camera :( **

I recon you have dislodged the video input when reinstalling...out she comes!

Check for bent pins and make sure the video leads are the right way up...ears of the cable pointing upwards.

Also, on the back of the interface box, you should have a green light, on the android box, red.

Ok so the interface box, the green light is flashing slow n steady, when system is switched the red light comes on fast flashing and green is slow flashing...

Unplug it or turn the ignition off and try again. Check the jumpers i think its number 2 or 3 on the RGB interface box that controls the input, they do have a habit of getting nudged.

Have unplugged everything, just to test original system, it is still there, so no idea about the video cables, as they are correct, no bent pins and ears facing up. Tried everything again, still the same.

It’s annoying as on my test fit, all was well....aside from the white screen.

On selection the navi system does flick over, just doesn’t seem to want to boot the Android part, can I plug this into my pc and do a hard reset somehow?

Found the Manual for the control box, the blinking red led is no input, I.e. no input from android box..
Any further help would be appreciated.

Mine would freak out horribly when the video was not calibrated correctly in the x/y axis and had similar quirkiness. Even with no input detected/video weirdness, if you went to the jumper board and started going through the menu, it would pop up perfectly so i knew the connection was in-tact. I had to adjust the X and Y size as well as position and if i got either of those too off, the whole thing would go bonkers.

Well the breakout board does still bring up a menu shall have a go with that, did that also solve the white screen? Or did you not have that issue?

White screen is new to me. Of important note which I forgot to say in my earlier post, when in the configuration menu and selecting the appropriate video card, the instructions say to use KD 900_WVGA. That one was very glitchy for me and would work fine one minute and be broke in the next. I ended up using I believe it was WD900 WVGA (The option right above) This one took a lot more fiddling to adjust the screen size and position but once it was, it has been rock solid for the past couple weeks

Update

Have managed to fix the white screen issue, couple of wires on the kit were wrong, have swapped them over and now working as its supposed to. :)

I have not however fixed the android box issue, it looks as if the box wont output its display, and I cant get into it over telnet or other means to see if there is a software switch that has corrupted, have tried as a last resort the reset switch but this hasn't solved the issue either.
I fixed up my raspberry pi with rgb output and using the navi input have managed to get it to display a picture, so I can only assume the android box is corrupt beyond my means, so do we have some sort of warranty with these, what needs doing now? or has anyone another suggestion I could try..

thanks,

Rob.

Do you mean you connected something incorrectly, or did you find a problem that will be present in other kits?
