I’m absolutely baffled about where the mic is positioned as I didn’t ask Paul and can’t see it. Here are a few pics of the camera and iPhone cable in the centre console. Hope they help...

I found an easy peasy way to run the camera wire without removing the backseat. I ran the cable just underneath the carpet/trim along the driver side door and rear seat. I was able to sneak the cable up behind the edge of the seat and once up top I remove the head rest. Looking behind the area where the latch system buckle is, you can see a hole that feeds back into the top of the trunk area. I removed the 3 to 5 trim cleats to allow me to pull The trunk roof trim down and placed a flashlight in there. Going back to the car and looking through that latch area I was able to pinpoint a way through, following the light with a rod to run the wire to the existing grommet/rubber sleeve running from the trunk to the trunk lid. Photos below. The yellow rod is my fishing rod I was using to pull the cable through.

Here is a picture of the unused parts for my install. The video cable on top is the one that came stock with the car. It is not needed as you utilize the new video cable to plug into the screen.

Ok, so I'm at a loss. I managed to download autokit, and get it to start, but it's now on a perpetual loop of saying, please connect phone, connecting, please connect phone.

Edit. So it turns out, that you must install Android auto AFTER the phone and car are connected, and then set a connection up with Android auto on the phone and with the car. I've managed, after 3 hours, to get most things working, however, I can't get the mic to operate properly at the moment. I have to go through the voice recognition on the phone every time for it to work.
Also, the clock on the "home screen" cannot be changed and it's about 7 hours ahead, although the clock in android auto works correctly by syncing with the phone

Any luck figuring out how to change the date/time. Both are messed up on mine.

As I understand it, the solution being offered is not really workable for those of us with the earlier NIT as the screen connections are internal to the NIT. In order to access this, you'd have to open up the NIT itself and playaround internally. However, I was spending some quality time in the car yesterday, having just washed it, as you do, and thinking what a nice place to be it was, when my eyes fell upon "TV" button. Now I don't have a TV installed, but it would seem that there must be a connection for a receiver input to get this to the screen?

Probably a long shot and the car would need reprograming to enable this, but just athought?

I was more concerned with your Uri Geller antics at the time :)

I take it the OEM system still comes up on screen with the link cable removed?

it does. You simply replace the cable that was from the head unit to the screen with a new one from the screen to the android box and the other new cable from the box to the headunit

Just a quick pic showing how I pre-loom the cables and using the T-Harness.

The mic is mounted up by your rear-view mirror. ;)

:goodone:

You mentioned you changed the logo to the Maserati one, what’s involved in doing this?

It seems odd that changing that logo would be simple but setting the time and date would not.

Might want to also think about telling your insurers about this modification.....it made no difference to my premium but gives the buggers no excuse to not pay out!

Hi Guys,

Just a quick post to introduce myself to the forum. The harness lead to prevent any cutting is now available to purchase on the website:
Maserati T-Harness HERE

My UK based supplier has unfortunately changed the pricing and is going to be retailing at £60 per unit. As an introduction, I have a discount running on the website for £15 off until the end of May. Use Code: SM2019 at checkout.

If I can guarantee 15 units, I would be able to negotiate the price with my supplier but the pricing currently is on a one-off basis.

You can order online and have it dispatched directly to you, or I can bring it with me to any installs I am doing and just add it to the final bill.

In regards to people asking about the forward facing camera, unfortunately I do not recommend this.
The way the system works, you either need to:
  1. Have a switch fitted to trigger the camera to appear on the screen
  2. Like changing source or your TV, you have to press the phone button to activate the CarPlay then the same button again to select the camera, for example, if you were listening to the radio and wanted to switch to the front camera you would switch to Carplay, then Camera, then back to radio.
Another point, a forward facing camera is NOT the same as any other camera. It has to be an extra wide fish-eye camera for the image to be any different to what you see out of the windscreen. Field of vision would have to be roughly 180 degrees.

If your vehicle does NOT have the AUX option please read the following. The CarPlay uses the AUX to play the sound through the system so if this isn't factory fitted an FM modulator is needed for the sound to play as if a radio station. Not a problem, but obviously an extra expense of roughly £75.

I take this opportunity to also highlight that I do offer a wide range of services e.g Alarms, Dash Cams, etc
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Hi, I’ve just ordered the cable from your site and tried to download the invoice but then it asked me to login but I hadn’t set up an account. Can you just confirm you have my order please. Thanks Phil Wrigt
