I'm quite excited about it. When changing from my GT-R to the GTS, the backward step in infotainment was my biggest niggle.
This should bring it right up to date, and I think will make a big difference come resale. (not that I'm selling any time soon)

Also, I love a bit of DIY so looking forward to getting my teeth into it!

When I bought my Vantage, the step-up in infotainment from the Maser was clear. Matt's just thrown me back into the dark ages. Aston will upgrade the Vantage system to the newer version with CarPlay, and will charge £4k for the privilege. £2.5k of that is kit. Matt's price for this approach is an absolute bloody bargain. I'd bite his arm off if I still had my GTS.

For £150 pro install in one day I would highly recommend it.

Saying that, now I have produced some proper instruction and worked out all the issues it should take the diy’er a weekend.

I’m going to do Zep’s over a weekend to prove that theory.

I look forward to the photos of Matt swearing at Zep's car while Zep sits back in a deckchair chugging a beer in a nonchalant. fashion

Be good to hear how you get on the second time round.
£150 does seem very reasonable for the work involved. I'll see how I feel and how much time I've got nearer the time.
I fitted a reverse camera to my GT-R as that was one thing it didn't come with, and have done similar things on previous cars, which required cutting and soldering into the loom etc, so if your kit is plug and play, it should be fairly straight forward, as long as the dash and trim comes out nicely.

Looks great Matt. A really worthwhile upgrade without affecting the look of the interior.

Now all I need is a GTS instead of the Ghibli...

Looks good!
Good to get confirmation of Bluetooth connection and switching between audio sources etc.
I assume it comes with a USB C cable as well as a lightning connector? Do you have anyone with an Android device you can try?

Just one more thing to add as people asked..front camera...YES

When you press and hold the phone button to flip to the android box, you can also set it up so if you press and hold again, it goes to AV1 which is where you can wire the front or additional camera too.

This is a simple matter of rigging it up the same as the rear camera with one power lead but you plug the front camera into the yellow AV1 RCA.

Can always sell Vantage and move back to a Maserati again :p

That is great news - particularly for Stradale owners who don't have front parking sensors.
Is there an easy unobtrusive location to mount a forward facing camera?

Good work and a shame that Maserati made such a drama of updating their own efforts of the GT.

Does this system make the hard drive error a obsolete problem?

On a Strad, yes there is.

Mount on top of the chin spoiler left or right of the numberplate. You could do as I did and mount it in the flag of the plate itself:

It would yes, Phil can fix them but you don't need the drive unit functioning for the CarPlay, it only picks up on the can hi and low wire (for the reverse signal and steering wheel button controls) other than that its just straight into the 7" screen and bypasses the drive unit completely.

Here’s the vid and the sniffling. Sorry the screen was up so bright. Being sat in a dark garage didn’t help either but you will get the idea:

Now in better definition...

Looks great! And the latest box update allows you to change the car icon for a nice Maserati badge!

Is there a way of ordering an additional camera (i.e. for the front) when we're placing the orders via yourself Matt?
Furthermore, are you going to add a front camera to your Strad?
