It uses the original screen and a clear touchpad is fitted over it to give the functionality.

And yes, it’s awesome.

Does this system replace the existing screen? Or is this the system I’ve been reading about that sits in front of it?

Scratch that.... I watched the videos!! Maybe someone can let me know what the cost of install is please, I would be interested being on the next batch if possible!

Why oh why can't this work with the Bose system....

As I understand it, the Bose system is a complete unit rather than a separate LCD panel and associated electonic gubbins. Thus no one has opened it up to figure out how to connect to the LCD panel, or if they have, the LCD connections for Car Play are more intrusive to make, with the ensuing risk that it could result in bricking the NIT.

You got to ask yourself - "Do I feel lucky?" ....!

I might be willing to be the guinea pig if it is the case that it might just brick the thing. Mines pretty much rubbished already..... ???

Actually I don't think that you have the Bose system that is a problem. Your's is the newer NIT judging by your post

Matt/Zep would need to verify though

I think it’s almost certainly a no. The Bose display is part of a head unit so getting there and finding a way of driving the display from the carplay box sounds like a stretch, but it’s not impossible.

Perhaps one solution would be to install just the screen and doing something else about the amplification of the sound. Maybe.

Presumably there’s now a few GT owners who have installed the Naviplus system. Wondering how are they performing? Screens still responsive as new etc.

Mine has been in 6 months or so, not problems to report.

Mine is still working great and that includes being in 90- 100° weather this summer parked outside intermittently
