but even a layperson or indeed these sky engineers can see perfectly well if a roof is safe or not, just blooming jobs worths otherwise
Job protection probably. My brother in law worked for British Gas and was paranoid about doing everything to the letter in case the aforementioned jobsworth came along after and reported him.

Yeah but can he build a missile to get the Sky engineer high enough to align my dish?

After seeing him beach his Landy on one of those concrete dividers at Corley services I reckon you would be lucky if he got him in the general vicinity of your village.

He appeared in ad on telly for Greenhalls beer, the worst beer ever! Saw Fred in our local and asked him said he hated Greenhalls too and drank Tetleys!
Never heard of that. I started on 99p a pint Websters down the local at 16. That was shoight.

Sorry but you need to look at all reasons why this is happening at SKY and I have no issue with it at all. It's to protect all parties. They did the same when they fitted mine. Yes H&S has gone mad but don't forget this is also to protect SKY with so many claims for falling off ladders in their industry. The amount of 'no win no fee' claims they have is shocking. This way if a colleague falls off the ladder it's their fault and not the company as they were not working as trained.....Nothing wrong with that. We do the same in our industry with colleagues dropping kegs In and out of callers.....Clear instructions to protect the colleague and us.

Biggest difference is he erected the gear. It’s not some random homeowner telling him “yeah it’s alright the roof is safe”. My mate works in missile development, 2 first class degrees from Cambridge and a phd. Can’t drive a nail through a block of wood let alone know anything about the structural integrity of his kitchen roof.
That did make me chuckle about some random homeowner and I agree but I happen to know my roof has 6x 2 joists and 18mm ply at a very slight angle - I know because Ive been a chippy in my day and I built it myself - but point taken it makes no difference to them

Obviously Sky have their rules and probably good reasons for them but in order to fix an anchor point for the ladder and harness surely that would mean the installer has to climb the ladder probably with an SDS drill to fit the anchor .Don t knmow if anybody has done something similar but I have and I can tell you its dodgy- nothing compared to Fred though - I get nervous just watching him thinking how the **** did he do that with rope and heavy ladders - balls of steel that man one slip or mistake and he s gone

Hole is drilled at about 3ft from ground if memory serves. Then two ally hooks go over the rungs joined by webbing and then ratchet strap to eyebolt. Once done they remove the bolt and use a plastic cover for the wall. Allows for reuse if needed.

The ones where you see the ladders roped together that then lean backwards to get over a ledge are crazy. Then you watch him climb up....yikes!

Sky are a horrible company, I'm surprised they are as popular as they are, or is it because there is no other option? I wouldn't give them a penny, monopolising basta5ds.
