At the end of the month my good lady and I will escape the home counties for a few days of rest and recreation near Skipton.
We will be travelling by QPV :)
Any recommendations of where to visit/ Which roads to drive?

Lovely part of the world, lots of great roads around. Grassington, Malham, Kettlewell all worth a mooch.

head west from skipton towards Lake District. The area around Ingleton (where I now live) is full of great scenery and nice roads. The HAWES to Ingleton road travels past ribblesdale viaduct. Lovely.
OR Head east toward WHITBY for a romp across moorland.

If you want some hearty food while your in Skipton then The Tempest arms is well worth a visit.

"Historic Cosy Hotel & Inn – Tempest Arms" https://tempestarms.co.uk

Portion sizes are not for the faint hearted.

Your a stones throw away from lancashire, The Ribble Valley and even Pendle Hill if you fancied a walk. All within 20 to 30 mins of Skipton.

Excellent information. Website certainly looks good, but nothing beats a personal recommendation. Many thanks.

I bought the F car down in Skipton, what I remember a nice scenic place, narrow winding roads, busy, with not a lot of passing places. Possibly choose your times.

Well here I am with the QP and my good lady holidaying in Skipton for the next few days. Is there anyone about who would like to meet for lunch or a stroll in one of the many dales?
The Ingleton waterfalls were dramatic today.

Bolton Abbey and a walk along the Wharfe to the Strid is nice. Agree with Ingleton - waterfall walk, caves etc, and Hawes for Hardraw Force and the Creamery for proper Wensleydale and fruit cake.
Also you have Malham, and you could venture into the Forest of Bowland, with the Inn at Whitewell.

Some great roads around here, which I covered in the GT on the Mini Miglia (a touring assembly) a couple of weeks ago. Lost the front number plate as usual, but a good run out with the old car club.

Aaaah beautiful Skipton. In the Caliphate of North Yorkshire.
Once the Realm of Ayatollah Gorgeous George Galloway, peace be upon him.

Don't know Skipton, but go east a few km and you have the exotic delights of Harrogate.
In between is RAF Menwith Hill. While driving past, I'd avoid using certain key words that
Echelon is programmed to pick up on, in phone calls. Isis. Virgins. Labour Party. Diane Abbott. Vest.
etc etc Its especially pretty at night. Not so much, if you're on the inside looking out.
To avoid this see 'certain key words' as listed above. Happy holidays!

Seriously. You're literally tripping over beautiful drives, scenery and villages.
But Harrogate is worth a few hours. Indulge your inner tourist.
