I stupidly filled the Maz to the brim the other month without thinking that it was going to be SORN the following week!!#*......... knowing that fuel goes off and the 'Little Boat' now running on fumes, the obvious thing to do is to siphon the fuel out of the 42 and put it into the Fiat. As this can no longer be achieved with the standard 'pipe and suck' anymore due to anti-theft features built into modern cars, is there any other way that I can do this??

If its in your garage then the fuel will be fine in the car for 6 months without issue. So if your just talking about a few months till spring i wouldnt worry about it.

Cheers Kenny, yep, both cars are on conditioning chargers tucked away under car covers in the garage and the 42 will be woken up with the 6 month period!.....No petrol breath required then!

Cap and a full tank its effectivley a sealed container stored at a stable cool temperature. If its outside abroad in the sun fuel go off quicker in the heat.

Petrol breath is that donald trumps next form of covid defence after detol injections.:eek:

With the lack of usage this year with my 4200, and it being full at the end of 2019, I syphoned the whole tank out a month ago.
I used a length of 12mm OD nylon tube, it went straight in to the bottom no problem.
... and I got a gob full doing it. Doh.

must admit this petrol going off thing is bizarre, I've never bothered to syphon and some of my motors don't move out and about for a few few months, one had the same fuel for a good 9/10 months and with no issues whats over when firing it up

Articles I’ve read about storing cars over winter recommend a full tank of fuel. Cool temperature during the winter and little air in the tank keeps it good.

in fact come to think of it my little 1969 fiat 500 hasn't been out and about for a good 2/3 years and fired it up about 7/8 months ago, i would say that all my motors do live in modern fully insulated buildings, presumably that helps with not getting condensation in the tanks even when only partly full, i'm wondering if its more a condensation/water issue in fuel over time

The way I do it is to disconnect a fuel line at the tank and run a pipe from it to a suitable drum.
Then run 12v from a battery to one of the fuel pumps and empty it that way.
