Hi all, tried to get phone to come to life in2003Spyder only to find that the slot for the SIM card holder is blocked?.
Could it be that the system is incomplete ?, not completely installed, I am curious.
Any advise as usual very welcome.

Regards.
Stewart.

If the sim holder is blocked then the original owner didn't spec the phone option. I can't remember if it's hardware or just software that's missing.

Thanks Cris, I thought it might be something like this,no way of getting it going?

Hardware missing, there is a bolt on carrier for a full credit card sim needed, they pop up occasionally but I doubt it is worth the effort.

It's different hardware, the NIT unit under the armrest has the GSM module built in and the SIM card reader behind the slot, which is blocked off it not fitted.
Then there is the microphone mounted in the base of the rear view mirror.
I've just retrofitted, it's actually a good system, you can even send and receive txt messages on the display, not bad for 12 years old tech!

If you don't have the symbol for the phone signal strength on the bottom left hand side of the sat nav screen you do not have the system installed...can be retro fitted but the hardwear is v.expensive.

I got all excited and got a SIM card for mine when I first got it only to find the block :( in reality, I probably don't need the distraction of the phone when I'm out in the beast!

One thing that is annoying is the 'SIM Card' error window appearing on the screen when I use (and I do use it) the Sat Nav apart from sticking in a full size Sim, does anyone know how to get rid of the error message?

If the slot is blocked off you do not have the hardware installed inside the armrest, sorry mate..!!

Oh I've got the hardware alright and have used the phone to good effect, putting by sim card in a carrier. The problem is when I don't have the dim in up pops the error message. It's easily cancelled by pressing ESC, but it is tedious. Just wondering if there's a way or inhibiting it.

No sat dish is for Navigation only....you need the four bars which step up showing signal strength and phine image as indicated in the attached image.
