Silverstone Wing Tour

Been to a seminar at Silverstone today, held in the International Media Centre (posh name for a conference room) in the Silverstone Wing. It's a superb building, can't really see where the £27m went though...

Had a tour behind the scenes, which was excellent. Been in race control (entire wall of monitors, covering all the track with remote control cameras), on the podium, in Bernie's office, in Charlie Whiting's office, in the timing office - all three completely empty. Good views of the track though! Tour round the circuit, including a visit to the Silverstone workshops - servicing/repairing the cars used for the Silverstone Experience stuff, some single seaters, some Ferrari's etc.

Best part was - I was taken round the whole tour by Ian_Ashley, an ex-F1 driver from the mid-70's. And an ex-commercial biz-jet pilot, and ex-CART driver, and ex-BTCC driver and TVR Tuscan Challenge driver. Some life, eh?

Most pleasing to be able to say, "It's mine", when he commented about the lovely QP surrounded by BMWs and Audis in the car park as we arrived back in the minibus.

I've had worse days!

Sounds like a good day in the office drew!

Bet Bernie has an office at every F1 track tho' so can't see him personalising things much. Although the odd pic of his daughters wouldn't go amiss!

I was told Bernie having an office is in the contract (what a surprise!), but apparently he has never set foot in the one at Silverstone.
