Side repeaters

I am changing the side repeaters on my 3200 (£12 for the pair on Ebay) and having removed the old ones one seems to have the remnants of some sort of neoprene or rubber seal stuck to it where it touched the body, I could make something up to replicate this or I guess I could use clear silicone and thereafter change the bulb from inside the wing, any advice on the best way forward will be much appreciated.

I would avoid silicone at all costs. You can buy neoprene rubber strips for a couple of quid and some nifty work with a craft knife will give you a good finish. Maybe something like this:
