anyone know where i could get seat motors or even the part numbers, been quoted £400 and currently not available.

i'm not sure of part no as eurospares only do the complete base of the seat.

the no on the motors:
1-1459-01 & 996-624-332-00

i need the motor that moves the seat back and forth, also the tube/clip/motor that i think tilts. the clip that holds the tube/cable in place has broke off, not sure if it's a complete part (tube/clip/motor) or i can get just the clip.

Yup, Porsche part. I had a friend who worked there a while back, so grabbed a couple at discounted rates. Im away from home this week, so unable to get you the part number im afraid. Should be easy enough to find if you can get the old one off. If you can wait Until next week, i live near Porsche Silverstone, so happy to grab them and post them out to you if required.

was going to look up the local Porsche place. I think the porsche part is the same as the second part number I provided but struggling with the first one. almost look identical but suspect not.

i didn't know we had one at silverstone, i'm not that far will look to give them a call tomorrow. if no luck as I don't know from which porsche - if it's possible to get the porshche part number for me that would be great?

thanks Zep but its the first part no i provided I'm sure struggling with.

the porsche parts list shows this as the same part, all the porsche motors are the same but on the GS this motor has different part number

The 3200/4200/GT and probably the QPV all share the same motors, there are 3 per seat. The only difference is the multi plug colour for each one but it’s no biggy.

No problem, personally, I wouldn’t over think it. The second number could be the batch number, it could be a design revision, it might just refer to the colour and the length of the wires. Looking at the motors with that part number, the second number you are looking for is different on the ones I have found. But we know that the 996..... part number will fit becuase it’s on the one you removed.

84239

84240

If one number, which is clearly a part number, matches, then I would be confident enough to go ahead with it.

996.xxx.xxx.xxx is the format of all modern Porsche part numbers. That is a 911 966 part number. 944.xxx.xxx.xxx is for a 944. Some parts are shared between models. So you may find 944 bits on a 996 for example. And even these are made by someone else. Probably.

Yes. It’s the same with VW (and Bentley as Catman found out). The first 3 digits are the model code, then the last 6 are the part number. Same parts are used on different models, making it easier to charge more for the more expensive cars....

spoke to parts today and the 996... part is the right number, other number they couldn't confirm. looking at their diagram it shows the other motor that I want as same motor as the 996... one, but this one has two part numbers. without a reg or chassis number they couldn't confirm which part was correct. I ordered one of them as a licky dip but its not returnable if wrong. it's stil 3x cheap than Mas quoted me.

motors currently are about £70 ea. :) once I have them installed and working, I'll comfirm part numbers and costs.

the 996... motor has 4x wires on the connector, the other motor has 2x wires. more is better than less, hopefully the extra wires aren't signal wires

i think whilst I have the seat out I'll regrease all the gears and rails. which grease is best for this:
  • nornal black grease
  • silicone grease
  • white grease (think this is for parts that slide)
  • ceramic grease
  • red grease (think this is for rubber)
  • lithium grease
  • and last cooper grease

hopefully it's an easy job to take apart and get to the gears ?

My 4200 has the four wire 996.624.332.00
Good spot....so are mine. All the Porsche motors I have seen are two wires only.....
Looks like your part number is 3 pin actual...?

The other two wires go to a resistor inside. It is possible to extract the 4 wire cable and resistor and transpose it into the two wire Porsche unit. Have done it several times.

Part number differs slightly on this Merc’ part but it appears to be 4 wires to the block...
Might take a punt at £14...

If that fails, surgery it is...:)
