Seat has gone horizontal and it won’t go back into position

Soooo my battery died in the GranSport as I foolishly topped up the tyres with a little air compressor from the cigarette lighter, but I didn’t have engine on.

Anyway, I charged up the battery with a ctek which seemed to be fine. I successfully turned on the engine, but as soon as I did the driver seat motors started to fold the seat back downwards, whilst simultaneously moving the seat base forwards (see pics)

Now I can’t get the seat back into position, the only button that is working is the lumbar support.

Does anyone know how I might go about getting it back into position?

There’s two plugs under the seat assuming it’s like a 3200. Unplug them for a couple of seconds then reconnect.

There’s a method for the seat to learn the limit stops but I don’t think that’ll help as you need to push the base switch forward/back a few times straight after opening the door and the seat will then cycle forward and back and your switch doesn’t seem to be working.

The battery reset worked!!!!

The seat just won’t go back on the runners yet but at least it’s upright now.

I’ll try the other things in the light of day, but it’s driveable again!

Doggers of Yorkshire will forever mourn this day

Now I've got this mental image of Steve Martin in Planes, Trains and Automobiles in the green Chrysler LeBaron Convertible. They make Maserati's now.........

"You broke the goddam seat......"

Now it's back to normal... lock car and leave for an hour or so. Then unlock and within a few seconds open the drivers door and toggle the seat motor swith to the front then rear and repeat. Then fold the seat forward till it stops then push it back upright.

It should go all the way back then forward to its saved setting.

The ECU has now been reset.

Maybe the runners are dry? They require some lubrication once they dry out it can cause the seat ecu to go a bit mad

Thanks everyone - I really appreciate the posts as I thought i'd have to go to a garage to get it fixed. Thank you! I love my Maserati again, we merely had a tiff :)

Weirdly enough Chrysler and Maserati did make a car much like a Le Baron.

Behold the Chrysler TC by Maserati

If a car manufacturer could be a stand up comedian ( or should that be "lie down comedian"?), it would surely be Maserati....
Glad you got it sorted 'cos this made me laugh ! :)

Turns out I STILL can’t get the seat to move backwards on the runners. Having wd40’d, jiggled the seat controls and done the battery reset, the driver seat will move in all directions EXCEPT backwards on the runners.

When I press the button backwards or forwards it beeps, but that’s all.

Has anyone got any further suggestions as I’m at a loss

Did you try unplugging the plugs under the seat and reconnecting them you should get a beep when you plug them back in?

It might not be very helpful at the moment but the beep when you press a button means something. I’m not sure whether it tells you in the owners manual or the workshop manual but I’ve read it somewhere. I can have a look in a 3200 workshop manual when I’m home tomorrow, I’m sure the seat modules are the same.

Yes, I tried that too - there are two banks of plugs under the seat - everything got unplugged and replugged again. I’ll do it again this afternoon just to try again...

If it is the motor then I believe it is a common part with a Porsche that can be found for less than £100
