Can anyone recommend a scanner, I do have a Foxwell, but it has limited code reading for the Maserati and also no maintenance. I’m trying to replace the hub\wheel sensor on the rear of the car and realised once I got to the disc that the handbrake needed to be computer released. I do have the new hub and I would like to attempt this myself. any help please

If you can: Ignition on. Release EPB. Press Park off until displayed in screen. Ignition off.

One of our pros might explain why that won't work, but pretty sure it's been done before

DO NOT USE A SCANNER TO PUT YOUR HANDBRAKE INTO SERVICE MODE OR DO A HANDBRAKE CALIBRATION

This will stretch the cables and trash the motor.

To back the handbrake off to release the disc put a bladed screwdriver through the hole that you align at the bottom centre and flick the cog the correct way to release and clear the disc.

To refit, do the same tightening the adjuster till it locks the rear disc then flick it off three times so the disc rotated.

Old methods are certainly better than newfangled in this instance.

Seriously, thank you for your response, I’m not completely sure I understand I assume there’s a hole on the disc that I can push through and release the cog by turning the screwdriver the correct way I assume is anticlockwise as if I was undoing something, am I right?

It looks like a cog aligned along the cable and you actually lever it with the screwdriver.

A *bit* like this

Although maybe I should let Matt do it :)

You will see the above through the a hole in the disc drum, but only if it's in the right position.
If it's not, then you will have to release the parking brake to rotate it into the correct place by using the 'park off' button as described
