SAT NAV update

Hi guys,

new member of the forum from Slovenia.
Recently bought a 2009 GTS MC-Shift. It's winter time, so I've not driven a lot, but from what I have, it's a real joy to drive this beast.

I have a question if any of you have bought a SAT NAV update from https://www.maseratinitrepairs.com/ .
I received an offer from Phil Carroll for 100 EUR for Europe 2017 maps - they offer a download link and than you make a CD and update a maps.

So few questions:
- is this a real deal or some scam ( it is deffinitely very cheap compared to dealer price)?
- has someone already done this and all worked well?

I'm afraid of putting some CD in and maybe get into trouble with my NIT unit.

All comments welcome.

P.S. - I'll post some photos of my car when I'll make them in some nice weather.

Welcome to the forum!

Phil is a member of this forum so it’s definitely not a scam...I know he was recommending his website in another post a few weeks ago.

No doubt other members will comment shortly to back this up

I am sure you are ok on this one!

Thank's blade runner for the quick reply.
I would like to note that when I was asking if it is a scam, I did not mean to offend anyone, just a precaution as I'm new to this :).

I hope someone has already done it through Phill and will share his experience.
My main concern is that I would corupt NIT unit.
But as Phil is obviously also repairing NIT units, I hope he has experience and would not sell something not OK.

Phil is as dodgy as ****, but this isn't a scam. Unless he's planning on bricking your NIT and selling you a new drive :)

Joking aside: Proceed with confidence

Montravia - what exactly do you mean?
English is not my mother language, so maybe I don't understand all "local" things :)

i contacted Phil from MASERATI NIT REPAIRS 2 days ago

my case was not a simple update, my QP GTS is an USA2 version, for UAE, so the maps on the NIT were MIDDLE EAST 2012

thanks to him, with the update, my MIDDLE EAST maps were replaced and updated by EUROPE MAPS 2016 (Italy) , working fine! everything OK

he has been honest and hepful , nice person! 100% Reccomended

ps. still looking for a fix to the problem of Speed Warning Alert, that in the NIT Menu there's no option on "Define Car Parameters" to Disable it or Set Another Speed, so every time i hit 120km/h the alert comes, had to set the buzzer to volume 0, still annoyin' me the screen with the alert on the RPM indicator middle screen :(

The problem you have is that all Gulf Spec cars have by law to be fitted with an alarm once the car reaches over 120kph. This is not something which is set in the NIT but more than likely coded into another parameter within another computer. I can find no mention of how to remove it other than a trip to a main dealers.

You require this one.

047 – Remove Arabian countries (opposing to function #016) Applied vehicles: Quattroporte and GranTurismo all models. This Proxi configuration cancels a specific set-up for Arabian countries (specific alarm system functionality and max. 120 Km/h message display on the instrument cluster). Note: for this modification it is not necessary to replace any vehicle components

I have exactly the same issues on mine since it being USA2 version. I would like to get rid of that speed warning and middle east maps, problem is that we don't have Maserati importer in Finland. Any other ways doing map update?
