Ok so things looking a bit dodgier now.. however I am still wanting to go (my grandmother passed away last week so want to get over there sometime soon)

Anyway, with Luxembourg now on the list and possibly Belgium to follow, the route home (via Rotterdam - Hull ferry) means I would ordinarily pass through both of those places. Do the quarantine rules include passing through somewhere? Probably can avoid and head up Germany if needed but more convenient to go Lux - Bel ..
The rules state if you came in from a named country you must SI... no time limits that i know off... if it was eventually everyone would use that line.

I’m taking my GTS on a roadtrip to a friends wedding in Lake Como (Lecco) in late August. Basic itinerary is:
Folkestone - Epernay
Epernay - Lake Constance
Lake Constance - Lake Como (via Davos etc)
Como for 3 days - wedding & recovery !
Como - Antibes (via Monte Carlo)
Antibes - Riems
Riems - Folkestone - Home
I’m using the Michelin route planner to find the scenic routes where possible.
Really looking forward to it !

Sounds great Ian, that’s an almost identical route to mine last year. Turn left in Davos and go over the Flüelapass, awesome. Stelvio pointless in your car though. Bodensee is lovely too, we stayed there overnight.

Bolzano, Maastricht, Ghent, Heidelberg all great places en route home if you’re heading back further east route.

That's a lovely route, and meandered on the 'B' Routes two years ago. Much more pleasant than autoroute.

Thanks Richard. Stelvio was the automatic first choice....mainly because of Top Gear...but I’m hearing other options might be much more spectacular and less crowded. I’ll check out your suggestion !
Pics én route to follow....naturally !

We ate here with friends in Monte Carlo a few years ago
My wife ate here again with my daughter 18 months later.
Despite the proximity to the Palace it was not very touristy, it still looks nice on the website. Checked it out on google maps street view and it shows a gift store, but the restaurant is to the right and you can't see any tat, only the palace or views from there.

Prices are all over rhe place still... some good prices if you pay now, but quite a risk getting money back if covid cancel all.

Im more worried about being let into to Europe rather than quarantine coming home.

Oh and still waiting for passport to be returned after renewal

Yes that's what I'm bothered about... them making us quarantine. Numbers seem OK at the moment (touches wood!). Eurotunnel is coming in at 200 return for what seem like fairly peak time travel...

Check out the flexi tickets. I’ve booked those because I’m not totally sure which day and what time I’ll be travelling, particularly on the way home. Valid for 12 months...

I've never understood Flexi plus. Apart from getting priority if there is space on a different train, the price is £458 return vs £200 for standard tickets. Even if you bought another ticket you would be worse off with Flexiplus. Or am I missing something??
