Hi! Two of my calipers have the Maserati word a bit worn out... Are they a sticker??

Did anybody changed the caliper colour? Mine are grey and the black car is crying out for red.

Regards!!

Believe they would be a decal then lacquered over.

I am also considering a colour change on mine to match the car as they are grey also so almost invisible, there are a few companies who will fully refurbish the calipers and then paint to your choice and apply the decals, one was used on wheeler dealers.

Think i'll do the full refurb option at some point as everything including seals etc is probably original

I had my calipers re-manufactured by BCS "https://www.bcs-automotive.co.uk", changed the colour to yellow and had the maserati decals redone, they did a reasonable job.rear wheel assy.jpg

They look really good, what was the cost to re-manufacture?

Also what size socket is need for the stake nut on the drive shaft?

Cheers Greg

The whole job was around 600, for all four calipers, 350 for the refurb and replacement parts, and 250 for the paint job. it was a lot less than new calipers :) it comes with a 4 year guarantee as well, 2 years on the paint. This was a couple of years ago so worth checking, it has probably gone up. I also seem to remember i bought a voucher for the work in the christmas sale or some thing like that and apparently saved money that way. The voucher was good for a year i think and i sent the calipers when I was ready. Took a few weeks to get them done I think, it was not too long.

oh and unless you are replacing the wheel bearings and/or drive shafts you don't need to dismantle the hub nut, I don't remember what size it is, it is metric and large! and it needs a lot of torque. I will have a look in my tool box and give you the size.

Thanks Davy, that's not too bad all in, i'll think about that for the next project.

Also hub nut, sorry not a caliper thread but just want to get a socket ready as want to change or powder coat the handbrake back plates at some point which needs the hubs / drive shafts removed.

Cheers Greg

Apologies for hijacking thread
Does anyone know where you can get the engine bay sticker for a Maserati 4200/Spyder called Identificaton Service which tells you where the dipstick is and washer bottle top up etc. Mine is looking a little worse for wear and lets the under bonnet down a bit. It's the large sticker about 200mm x 100mm that sits(on my car) to the left of the bonnet catch facing the car from the front.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks Catman
Eurospares don't do them unfortunately.

Got mine from Eurospares, but probably over 3 years ago now, maybe they will be reproduced (by maserati) if enough interest? Or get a decent pic of a good one and have it reproduced at a printers.

I would not have bothered just to get the decals but two of my calipers needed some restoration and had been jamming for some time so i needed to do some thing anyway, and just got carried away with the paint and all that :) Having said that they look great in yellow and i am pretty happy with the job really.

Mine were done by BCS as well - I think they are just moving premises to newer unit. I needed refurb and they discovered two pots damaged but they were able to replace these. I had mine repainted as Phil was nagging me continually about the state of mine and I applied stickers myself (if you get BCS to do make sure to ask for identical script and size to original as there are options). Depending on time of year they can get busy and timescales can slip a bit but overall good service and product.

Me too, think my Blue car and red calipers jar, would prefer yellow...
I'd agree with that....yellow calipers on a blue 4200/GS is spot on. I had them on the 4200/GS hybrid thing & it looked right on the money for me.

However I had red calipers on the Blu Nettuno QP & they looked right. I don't think yellow calipers would have suited the QP though oddly.

Glad you got them done Steve.
The nagging paid off.

My engine bay sticker came from Eurospares as part of the first order I did 4.5 years ago.
The caliper stickers I bought from Israel were available in different lengths. I seem to recall I found them on eBay.
Also spotted instrument dial stickers for converting to km/h from another eBay vendor, or changing to blue dials.
