I've just got around to trying to fit the fuel cap strap.

It turns out that I must be making things up as it looks like my fuel cap was never attached via a strap. I can't see any where to attach it to either the fuel cap or the anywhere else!

I'm sure I used to have one, but if it broke, there is no evidence of it!

Do other QPV 2007 Auto owners have a fuel cap strap?

On a 2009, the end of the strap is stuck into a indentation in the surround and held in with two little rubber pins.


You can almost see the tops of the pins in this photo:





If it breaks off flush, it is hard to see the indentation, now filled by the broken tab and the pins.

Ordered the same. Fits well on the cap, easy to remove the rubber pins using a pick tool. I did struggle to attach it to the car, since the attachment point on the string is quite large (bottom part of the photo). I think i have to cut it to size but shouldnt be too hard.
Material is quite a bit thicker. So hoping this will last a bit longer.

Yes, I discovered the hook after about a year! But it would be nice to have a replacement for the rubber strap. (No, not like that!)

As it happens, I found the replacement strap that I bought a couple of years ago lying about in the boot yesterday, so I might try to fit it. (It looks a bit short, though. )
