Replacing crankshaft position sensor & thermostat... anything else?

While I (or someone with better tools) replaces the crankshaft sensor & thermostat are there any other 'bits' (sensors I'm guessing) worth replacing while I'm at it?
Going to do those two & maybe get rid of the occasional no start when hot

Have you checked the battery health, it may seem strange but a new battery solved hot start issues on the brother in laws vw

Got a new battery, but also had/got battery drain - looking at that now - pulled the navtrac out last weekend
It was fully charged & good health yesterday when it wouldnt re-start - but I do agree, it seems if your battery isnt too good it can cause all sorts of issues

I'm also keen to replace parts as i go along - restoration/maintenance - to try to get on top of issues & rule them out

Any/all wear items...check belts, etc. while you're in there...

Depending on mileage, maybe worth considering preventative alternator change? If lower mikes than not worth it. Mine packed up at around 85K…

Check the wiring for the CPS’s. I believe there are other sensors there too? It gets so hot in there, I would check all the wiring running around that area.

Dlax69... I have made a note!

Mowlas - Only 48k ish miles, felt alternator was ok - but tested to stop that nagging doubt. - battery raises to 14v at 2,000 revs
Do you think its best to replace the 2 other sensors? (noted as 'sensor for firing' on scuderiaparts)

I'm guessing you've done all the other routine service parts, spark plugs, air and fuel filters?
Is there a separate coolant temperature sensor?

I personally would change any other sensors that can only be reached with inlet manifold off.

Ok thanks everyone. Will buy the other 2 crank sensors and the oil pressure sender. The car had big service Jan 22 & small service jan 23 so the general stuff 'should' have been done.

Hope the mechanic can do it soon....or I've got a job on my hands
