ok so don't want to dig up the old 'which oil' chestnut again but given there seems to be shortage of Selenium I dug out the comparisons between Selenium and Syntium both made by Petronas.
In my micky mouse view Syntium has a higher TBN (better to remove acid from oil ) and higher Viscosity Index (constant viscosity against broader temp range)but lower flash point.
Have so far gone with gone with the 'what was originally recommended' approach (Selenia) but would welcome thoughts on this new stuff?
Thanks
Ian

The place where I've always got my Selenia from has advised that they have exhausted all retail routes and can no longer supply it (shop4parts). They have offered the syntium racer X1 10w60 as an alternative and indeed Ricambio International offer syntium racer as an alternative too, the difference between the two is the "X1". Are they the same? I've given myself a migraine searching and getting nowhere :D

Have a look here Loz:

I know that the pdf is for diesels, but it looks as though X/X1/X2 refers to read-across of specs.
