Front shows in stock, rear is available to order, like the springs I just purchased, had to wait a while but they arrived

Available to order often translates as "when we called the factory about these, they are NLA".

The dampers will not go from working to not working in one jump, they will get less effective over time as the oil loses viscosity and the pressure reduces, seals wear. Having said that, it’s not the first time I have heard the ride in the back seats of a GS / Coupe being a bit bouncy. It could just be a case that they all do that.

I contacted Orap and this was their reply (subject to Google Translate):

"Good morning,
following your request we are to communicate our best offer as follows:

Sachs shock absorber overhaul with electric control Euro 350.00/each

If, on the other hand, they are traditional shock absorbers (with electric control), the overhaul costs 200.00 Euros/each

Prices are inclusive of VAT and transport

We remain at your complete disposal and on this occasion we offer our best regards
"

I would have thought they would know the difference between whether Sachs or standard shocks, but it's a start.

Nagengast.pl are well known for their work on Ferrari and Audi systems, but I have heard some who advise avoiding any refurbishment.

The problem is what to do to keep these cars on the road?

The orap reply may be part down to google translate both ways.

Iirc 3200 shocks are a traditional type shock with the electronic control on the top. The 4200 / GS shocks have the wires going through the top but the valve and control is contained inside the body of the shock.

I have never see a 3200 shock but i understand they were being rebuilt previously in ireland. 4200/GS rebuilds took longer to appear.
