Replacement skyhook shock

The title says it all, car is up for sale and I noticed that the front n/s seems to be sitting lower than the other Side (2 fingers verses 3 on the good side.). Car up on ramp and guess what the f/n/s shock is weeping. As it’s for sale I don’t want to spend a whole pile of money so would a second hand part suffice or is there a workaround? If I was keeping the car I would probably replace all 4 with sports coil overs and delete skyhook, but that’s not going to happen hopefully. P.s I’m looking £8750 which I think is a really fair price. Thanks again for the input, neil

Shocks don't control ride height. On the Skyhook shocks they're threaded and the ring nuts set the ride height. You can't adjust the nuts in place because Maserati left out the washer that would stop binding. This is probably more than you want, but for those who are keeping their cars to do it right you need to ensure equal weight side-to-side on the wheels. This guy's a bit goofy but you'll get the point.

If it’s leaking, with new skyhook dampers being unavailable, used is the only choice. Finding a good second hand one is going to be the challenge here.

As above, the ride height is based on the springs rather than the damper, so there will be some trial and error to get it right.

In Australia, the Sachs Distributor rebuilds the skyhook shocks by cutting the top off the sealed unit, threading the outside body, replace/repair internals and screw a cap down to seal it up.
I had one weeping shock so had all 4 rebuilt as part of a complete suspension overhaul.
Your immediate answer is to pick up one second hand shock. Try eBay where lots of specialty wreckers seem to offer them.

I also doubt it. When I was looking for a replacement shock for my 2007 QP Sport GT Auto a couple of years ago, I couldn’t even use earlier year QP shocks as the parts seemed to be specific by year model.

I have had the exact same problem with mine, thought it was caused by a faulty ECU that controls the shocks but turned out it was the rear driver side shock itself.

Cannot find a company that will rebuild them, looking at used items is always a gamble, it's new OEM or a small selection of aftermarket coilovers.

Ping message to David Askew who used to have contacts to rebuild skyhook.

Scuderia has replacements in stock and orap.it will refurb them for about one third cost of new, cost will vary since they factor in return shipment.

If the market for Skyhook damper rebuilds is big enough in Australia and New Zealand then must certainly be in the UK!

This is good news, when I posted in 2022, other members were reporting them as NLA.
