Removing the Shift Boot

I'm looking to get my shift boot redone to match my new steering wheel.

To get the knob off just looks like pull hard whilst depressing the button?

Can anyone confirm if the whole Centre console needs to come out to get the shift boot out?

Yes the knob just pulls off. No not the whole centre console, just the gear selector surround.

From memory it is fairly easy to remove. There is a couple of screws under the pads in the cup holders, one under the ash tray (just lifts out) and one under the gear indicator panel (levers out). There may be one each side which are accessed by pulling off the small panels on the side of the centre console, these are held on by pins and just need a bit of a tug.

There will be a few connectors to undo then it just lifts off. You will have to remove the chrome ring from around the bottom of the boot by prizing gently, I feel like this will break fairly easily, can't remember if it's plastic or metal. The boot itself is held on by some metal retaining clips underneath.20250217_144421.jpg20250216_130040.jpg

When you take the knob off move it out of park. They come off with a jerk and Ive clobbered a rear view mirror in the past.

Be careful with the plastic ring; I broke mine.
