Removed my Becker Sat Nav bits

Hi Adrian and all southern hemisphere viewers,
With my dash apart for heater matrix repairs recently I took the opportunity to declutter my fuse box area of the sat nav bits.
The Becker system is looking for a northern hemisphere satellite so does not work down under.
The radio and CD functions are fine without these bits.
I found the date of the sat nav box in the photo was 2006, so given my car is a 2005 production, one could deduce this was a dealer fit by JCT600 in Leeds who supplied my car originally.
I have to say this amount of extra wiring made the fuse box area a dog's breakfast.
Now it is orderly and clean and less frightening to any casual observer.

The sat nav square aerial ( top corner ) was located near the central dash vent, under the dash top.
The electronics box was zip tied to the left footwell under the carpet near the door.
There was a battery ( not shown ) I removed 2 years ago located up above the fuse area.
A small speaker ( not shown ) was I believe the remains of a parrot system, and was jettisoned too.
I left the cable going from the rear rooftop aerial to the radio area in case it is ever useful.
I believe that was for phone function. the cables to the top right of the picture appear to be more phone cable.

Not sure why the Satnav won't work down under. I could be wrong, but there is no 'northern hemisphere sattellite(s)' The system *should* be able to (eventually) work out where it is from anywhere by getting the time signal from the satellites it can see.

I reckon it might be borked.

Txs Bruce,

Wow so much wiring ... I think OZ delivered cars wont have all this baggage.

(Might have a hunt around later when the weather improves)

Ahh, lack of discs is nothing to do with it looking for the wrong birds. It probably knows where you *are* just can't show you a map ;)

Ebay the items as most will be useful for owners (like I was with my first 4200) without SatNav.

I retro fitted it and found an suitable antenna which I fitted in the centre vent with sticky velcro.

On the 4200 its just a softwear upgrade as the NIT already carried the hardwear.
