Removal of Tracker unit

I think I have found the Tracker unit!
While having the boot lining partly out, decided to take it all out to aid replacement of the battery, and it appears I have found the Tracker unit.
Its not active, certainly not by me, and the main car battery never lasts long, due to Tracker I would think.
So it appears the main unit is stuck to the underside of the rear shelf, and what appears to be a backup battery to the side.
Its all coming out!

Now removed!
Consisting of a GPS module, GSM module with SIM card, and backup battery.
Three wire taps into the loom, and an earth connection to the chassis.
Also a GPS and GSM aerial, that appears to be mounted under the rear deck stereo speaker judging by where the wires are going. I'm keeping these though having standard plugs, could be handy if I decide to add my own DIY tracking system.
Hopefully with a new car battery, it should last more than a few days now if not connected to a maintenance trickle charger.
I can't believe anyone with a 12 year old 4200 still has this system activated, so if fitted, should really be removed to save your main battery from going flat, and really, it is hardly 'hidden', certainly in my case.
If the general consenus that posting this on the internet is a security issue, I'll delete the thread.

Just out of interest could you tap into the software and monitor the car yourself?

.If the general consenus that posting this on the internet is a security issue, I'll delete the thread.

Although I am sure thieves have access to their own knowledge sources, given how rare Masers are, I would think it better to delete this thread.

The issue with the tracker is not that it's terrifically hard to find but the time it takes to search and locate it. A few years ago, when my BMW X5 was stolen from my drive, they left the car in a warehouse parking lot and the police, having located the car through the tracker, just did not have the resources to watch it for more than a few hours before deciding to reclaim it.

So basically anything that helps the f****** b*******s speed up their search and locate of trackers in different car models is probably not a good thing.

Plus if any of this guys sees a blue Maser in the Homfirth West area, they now know for sure it has not got a tracker!

It has been suggested to me too, so MJ, if you have no objection, I will delete this thread, are you ok with that?

Matt...any way of "hiding" thread for reference if a longstanding member asked for the info?
