Bugger! Good point.

Anyone here with a small plate ever been pulled? I'm assuming the worse sin is to force your plate to look like it says something else, rather than just the same but smaller, though I also imagine the penalty is just the same.

I have been running a small plate for the best part of a decade. Never even a sniff from the five-0 (famous last words I know)

Are you sure about the points, first I have heard of that.

best I can find on the net was that there was a proposal to change the law and issue points but it’s never gone anywhere ?

Certainly looks that way:

Well if this goes through the police will be so busy they won’t have time for real police work and the DVLA will surely lose millions in revenue as so many private plates bought with the sole purpose of altering / miss spacing them.
It also reads like not fixing the mark will also attract points as well.

Expect ANPR will do it all for them with extra AI.

I've used these guys twice in the last couple of years. 3/4 sized plate.
Another vote for these guys - very good service.

I went for legal size and spacing but smaller plate since it's only 6 digits as per the attached. Having just picked up the Strad I'm now working out what next so following all this with interest.

Already the case, Dorset Five-0 made a big thing on their face book page last year after pulling an Audi with small plate, fine +points.

Still can’t see anything on the web that says that current law allows points to be issued although clearly there is a move to change that.

The other risk is and has always been that an altered plate can be reported to DVLA and they can recall the number in certain circumstances.

Feckety bugger and bollox! This is looking most inconvenient and not compatible with our plans.
IIRC our dearly beloved Benny had a brush with the law on the way to Oulton Park a few years ago for not having a front numberplate. Can't recall if he got points and a fine or just a fine.

I am running plate less on the GS at the moment, I must admit I feel like a total crim doing so, always looking over my shoulder! :worried1:
