Adding fuel to this particular fire may not be very helpful but feel it’s important that Matt’s comments are substantiated ……… I am certainly a customer who had work that Prestige did corrected at Sportsitalia and also a fault correctly diagnosed. The work correction was a minor issue but important non the less and certainly meant I lost confidence. Others have clearly had more positive experiences.

So it's often overlooked here during MOT's but if you spot it during a MOT (aka you can put your screwdriver trough a mounting point) it's far worse on the inside where the mud is wedged between chassis rail and sub-frame

General update:
We're going to have more frames in stock soon ,we have only one ZF frame left

Out of curiosity, are you 'only' refurbishing them or will you make new ones as well?

At the moment we're buying up all reasonable ones blasting them if there is any-issue welding in new plates and having them coated.

That said i do have core F1 frames here that need new sections and i'm going to start making new ones as i have a waiting list for F1 cars at the moment.
That said there are A LOT of types of frames, for example the control-arm mounts have 4 versions (they do not interchange they are very different)
Add to that the differences in the cross members, so we're looking in to having uprated new items made to solve the issues and so we can keep the cars on the road.

Have you been driving the car sir?
Yes!
Oh well in that case we couldn't possibly cover this under warranty.Fair wear and tear you see. You have had 6 goods years out of it.You should be pleased you got that long.

I took some shoes back to a shop after a couple of weeks as they were falling apart , and the guy said, "Ah, it looks like you have been wearing these outside, sir."

It is great what you are doing, but if they corrode from the inside out how do you know if they are good enough?

They corrod on the inside of the chassis so to speak it's very visible once removed from the car,
As mud stick between the poorly coated stock subframe and the heavily coated frame rail (as you can see in the pictures in the first page)

The real issue with that is you only ever see it once the frame is removed from the car.
Internally the only really rot around the front upper control arm mounts, but that is easily detected since the original is many small stampings

Just curious is anyone hot dip galvanising or electroplating their subframes as a preventative measure, after cleaning up any rust and stripping?

mine is not.
The first one lasted 14 years so this one will do at least the same. Hoping for longer life now that we know it needs inspection and maintenance. Astonished the tubular frames of previous models last better than these. One thing about 3200 is superior :)

Hi All, long time lurker hoping to get into a Grancabrio maybe later this year or early next.
Just out of interest did Maserati ever update these front sub frames to improve the situation on later cars (e.g MY2018) or is it just a case that these earlier cars haven’t started to rot yet?
Certainly good to see there is the options above with the newly refurbished units!

Frames are all identically made doesn't matter if it's a 2004 QP or a 2019 GT it's same material/coatings etc
The mounting points do change

Had an Alfa Brera Spider in yesterday, OMG front subframe crumbling and a hole you could get your fist in.
