Thanks Loz

Know lots about the Ghibli Cup but not so much about the 2.8L Ghibli...88k on the clock...as long as it's been looked after are the engines pretty reliable....Suppose should drop Malc a line on the other side.

Chap to speak to really Andy is Andy Heywood at Bill McGraths , with the ghibli's he's the UK no 1 on the knowledge side and will know the majority of the cars and there owners, he'll be willing to discuss it quite freely he's a mega enthusiast

I know some one on the other forum looked at the red car, it's had sills & a few other bits of body & paint but to be honest most have. As long as the cam chains have been done at 56k you should be ok. Watch for manifold hiss, due to lack of cooling time before turning it off, this is an engine out issue to fix. Also make sure it has the ferrari diff not the ranger as these give trouble. The only other major issue is the electronic suspension make sure it works on all settings as I believe the shocks are around £500 per corner fitted.

They are great cars. Best description is an ford rs2000 with walnut ,leather & 280 bhp! be very gentle in the wet.l

I have just asked the chap who was interested in the car form, the other side, if he went to see the car...The car has the Ferrari dif and most history with Meridien....Suppose I'll give the chap a ring and see what's what.....Really tempted with this. The M5 would have to go and OK it will not be as reliable or anywhere near as quick but I used to ache for a Ghibli back in the 90's and just love the colour combo and the fact it's a manual...Most GT's were Auto's....Thanks for the advice Pibbow.

You will have more fun in the Ghibli it's a real go-cart.l One other thing is check the front suspension, if the front wheels towe in at the top you will need front stuts not expensive but they are weak and if they are the originals will need to be replaced.

Thanks, must go and have a look...

Will say though the M5 is lots of fun to..400bhp to rear...... You can get the rear out with traction control on or off and its so controlable.

Traction control what's that (LOL) the Ghilbli if far lighter than an M5 . I'm sure it is a superb car but they are two a penny. You will get many people just asking what the ghibli is let alone how good it is.
In My post about the first drive( agian next door forum) a guy in a Lambo 640 LP stoped at the services and spent a good 20 mins just going on about my Ghibl.i I never got a chance to ask about the £170,000 Hyper car he was driving!!!!

Allow at least £1000-£1500 for a service when fixing the price mate. I paid £10,000 for mine last year at 26k miles I spent almost £3000 as soon as I got in at Bill Mcgraths Paul & Andy are the best but thet are costly.

Do they really need to cost that much these days....When I had my 3200 I was banking on 1500 a year service wise but never actualy spent that much on servive....

Looking through the specialists prices vary.....Roberts aerospace is very cheap for a standard serive...then you have the other end of the spectrum with quotes of £1000

I love forums.....just got an email from the chap, Rich, that was thinking of buying it and he sent pics of the sills before they had been replaced....Bloody **** they certainly needed replacing. Looks like the work was done well from what Rich said. Also Bill Mcgrath has done work on the car so will def be worth a call to him......The one thing that niggles me is that once rust sets into a car, especially classic Italians, then its a ******* to get rid off.....

There is def more choice if you go LHD from Europe and from some research I've done it would seem they are in better condition....def Swiss cars by all accounts......

With regard to cost of service I would allow that much for the first one as it's beat to get it sorted from the start to keep costs down further on.

Good advice Pibbow...Do you do many miles in yours?

The blue one does look good.....over 5k more for the same year and 17k less miles...seems a little steep, but then if it's spot on these car prices are all over the place.

There is always room for movment on price. My advice is to go and look at them both. but my money is on the blue one. If the bodywork is spot on it's worth it. A respray for one of these with a bit of rust can run into a good few grand alone before you get into service costs.

One other thing make sure the headlights are ok. They are unobtainable in black & silver will set you back around £400.00 each if you can find some.

Yes read somewhere that you can nit get the black ones....You are right the blue sounds like the safer bet....
