Seems to be a difficult time to sell a car for over £10k without a warranty. I had my scirocco up for sale for 2 months with only a couple of enquiries before I part exchanged it for my CLS

Why would lack of a warranty be an issue? Would you get any kind of meaningful warranty on a 16 year old car anyway?

I bought both my GC-MC and MC-Strad privately, without warranties. And both were over £10k!!! (In fact, the same applies to my last GranTurismo-S, my QP GTS, my GS MC-Victory, the QP before that, and the one before that, my Shamal, my Ghibli Cup, my 4200 Spyder, my 3200, and the list goes on. None of them had warranties.)

It is a generalisation but many buyers seem happier to buy from a trader with a warranty than privately

All of the cars I have owned/kept came with warranties

Shall we make a pie chart? :)

I just didn’t think you could get a decent warranty with a car that old, the warranty world Is one I’ve never seen... I take it I am wrong then and you can get a warranty on a car pushing 20 yr old?

Mine Was 13 years old and it came with a comprehensive 1 year warranty with a £5k spend with auto gaurd... I used up £2k of it before it expired... 1 week after it did i realised the heater matrix was leaking. I imagine it would be a pretty expensive premium for the dealer

Anyway my point was the market is slow and people are not taking risks especially at what is the bottom end of the luxury market. I would spend a little more and get a good example from a specialist trader who I can hold to account if it is a lemon or has multiple issues... If not then go in with eyes open and expect to spend out. Just my opinion though

I've never had a warranty on any car I've bought, other than a wee Clio years ago, usually buy privately too. Never found the need for one.
