I have my Yamaha special edition Abarth 595 for sale at the moment. If you're interested, perfect fun small car. Running at 194bhp. 30k miles.
Need to make way, as I've got to many cars on the drive.

Now that is lovely. Wouldn't mind that myself...Bet it's fun.

Test drove a few over the weekend.

Polo GTi - typical VW and definitely the grown up choice;
Fiesta ST - as good as all of the reviews but the Chav's choice
208 GTI - a contender (if only it wasn't French).

We also discounted the Mini and Fiat 500 due to lack of rear space and / or boot.

Polo GTI is winning at the moment .... but there is a 5 month lead time and I'm impatient!

Take a brave pill, stick with the brand, and go for a mark 2 Ghibli. About the same size as a modern Golf. There’s a nice dark green one coming up at auction soon.

I used one as daily many years ago, covering about 50k miles in two years. Quite ”interesting” in the snow though, it must be said.

Thanks! It's had a fair bit spent on it.. always getting carried away

Been up for sale for 4 weeks now, really fustrating sale so far. 3 different prospective buyers turning up loving it, (one even left a £200 deposit) only to pull out once they realised the insurance costs for their 18 year old.

don't count it out but have you looked at Suzuki Swift Sport

I've got one and love it, great fun on the back roads and I think its got enough room for the basics.

a few down sides, the tyres are an odd size and only have a few options. its OK on the motorway but its not super fast car, its meant to get you fast around the back roads and oh boy it fantastic at this.

its also Fifth Gears fav car over all the others, I do like the abarth and JCW want to try both but I think it maybe time for something more build for distance so maybe also an option that I'm looking at TTS / TTRS

Same when I bought mine. I got grilled by the garage, assumed I'd be a time waster as they had lots unable to insure it, especially as modified. You could almost hear the sigh of relief when I told them I was old lol.

Agreed - my son has got one (Mk2 on a 2010 plate) and it is very competent. What lets it down IMO is that it is not quick enough.

An 8 second 0-62 time (which is slower than the SUV that we are replacing) is not good enough when most of the 'hot hatches' are in the 6 second bracket.

And have just found out that (for very sensible money) you can have the Polo GTI remapped to Golf GTI spec (same 2.0 TSi engine) which gives an extra 40 ponies and 100 torque ..... which drops the sprint time to 5 seconds :)

off the line I would agree but its not the point for this car, its build for a lot of fun and smiles :)

Alfa Romeo Mito 1.4 TB...with the D-N-A switch being set to D at all times. Nothing can touch them in the right hands...
