A few interesting recent sales.

The first is a QP GTS that I think went for the right money. Not expensive but not cheap. Good sign for QP GTS owners I think:

This manual 4200 a little weaker I thought as new clutch, recent service but not perfect history I don't think:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Manual-G...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I have been talking to the seller on this one and offered a price but we have not agreed so far:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-Mas...199601?hash=item521a4750b1:g:msYAAOSwzqdclPuS

It is a CAT D car due to apparent light rear cosmetic damage/work. Good history and a nice colour but the market really isn't favouring or wanting early 4200's.

The 2nd car is still on eBay as a classified ad now, perhaps they didn't sell it for the low price...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Manual-G...Coupe-55-000-miles-12-months-MOT/202649641268
It would have been a very cheap car for someone at £12,100 with anew clutch etc. In fact, even at £15k it seems well priced to me.
Certainly doesn't bode well for mine. That's a better colour, same age with less miles and mine needs a clutch soon (when I get around to it..)
I'm not mad on the interior colour mind..

He had both ads running in parallel. I am not sure why but maybe realising it wasn't going to sell for over 15k.

It has only had 4 or 5 services in its life I think from memory. Touted as FULL service history at the time. Even though a 4200 is supposed to be annual.

Indeed. I think some get confused with Phase 1, 2 then facelift.

I'm not a fan of condescending ads either telling someone what is the best gearbox and what is rubbish. There are tons of cars with CambioCorsa and F1 boxes who seem to be OK with them! Me included

I have been talking to him also as I like the car but wary of the Cat D and not being mentioned anywhere in the ad. Strange set up as well, told me sold his porsche to a garage taking this in an exchange hoping it would sell better. Didnt really use it much and now selling on... he sent me certificates from Autolign claiming that Cat D rating is removed but reading up on this it never really goes away so I think its still quite high for a previously repaired car.

I tend to agree it is a little difficult this one as a CAT D is a CAT D regardless of the Autolign certificate. I've done two HPI checks with different systems and it comes up as CAT D in both.

When other similar cars that are not CAT D are not any more expensive it doesn't make sense. I too like the car in general but don't like the classico alloys. The later facelift alloys word look much better.

It has had a recent clutch which is good but soft buttons are knackered and no idea if the normal 4200 issues are OK. Such as heater matrix, cracked wishbones etc.

Needs to be cheaper IMHO. I made an offer at a price that I felt was fair but he wants a little more for it.

This is the one that's been cracking me up for the last 18 months or so. Though it seems like so much longer :/
Car looks like it's been violently tea-bagged at one end and rammed hard in the @ss at the other.
3200
Offered it here, there and everywhere.
Still claiming the VRM is valuable. Despite being told it isn't and why.
Now claiming the car is a movie star and provides an income.
Who knew the classifieds could provide so much hilarity.

I read that the Autolign process resets a cars listing to that only dealers can see a car's full unredacted history.
Do consumers see a phrase like 'car has been subject to a status reclassification' or something vaguely similar?

Seems like the Autolign inspection removes it from the HPI only register as Autolign only work with HPI.

On all others such as Experian etc. it will move it from Condition Alert to Condition Inspected but still shows it as CAT D.

Also had a chance to buy a 2006/56 QP Sport GT with 45k miles and 10 services trade but gave it a swerve. Went for less than 7k. Scary times.

I was offered it too, needed a clutch which at that price is 50% of the value of the car.

Indeed....I did the numbers as well the same and thought there was more risk than upside. Tough to sell it on again.

Looked decent enough other than clutch and wheel refurb with bit of soft prep.
