Good morning,
I hope one of you may be able to help me on this. The n/s rear fog light has just stopped working. Warning light on dash and polite message saying 'check rear fog lights'.
Sure enough the one side is out. Checked bulb which is OK as is the fuse. Meter tells me that there is no power to the bulb socket so I am at a loss as to what the problem is. Any help would be much appreciated.

On the boot lid. Can be accessed by removing small panel in the lid which I have done to check and all looks OK except there is no power to the bulb holder.

As promised and for others who may have the same problem. It was indeed a break in the wire where it comes out of the car body and goes through a corrugated rubber tube in to the boot lid with all the other wires which serve lights at the rear of the car. I traced the wire back from the fog light bulb holder and by pulling on one of the two wires which serve the dead fog light found the broken wire which had snapped in the rubber tubing not as I thought I would find cut through where the wires go unprotected through the bodywork. The most difficult part was feeding the new section of wire through the corrugated rubber tube. It looks as though there is plenty of room but there isn't. You need a fairly stiff piece of wire to feed through and then fix to the electrical replacement wire and pull it through. I then agonised over whether to solder the new wire in place or crimp it. I decided on the latter as there is not much room and whilst you might be able to solder the ends of the new piece of wire etc., there would be a risk of setting the car on fire when using a blowlamp or cigarette lighter on the heat shrink over the solder joints. Anyway all in all a satisfactory job as the fog light now works and the warning light has gone off.

I had the same issue last year. Found a broken wire in the loom inside the rubber trunking which takes the wiring between the boot lid and the car. It was a bit of a trial to sort but eventually easy to resolder and heat wrap shrink. Been absolutely fine since. Found a few helpful YouTube videos, non-Maser but same issue, which helped with working it out.

. Just posted my reply at exactly the same time as you posted. Good to hear that you're all sorted

Did it not warn you to 'Go To Dealer' as some sort of threat? Mine is over the number plate light which I've still not sorted yet.

The one that freaks me out is the 'Limited Cruising Range; Refuel Immediately' and a massive icon of a petrol pump on the dash....

In the manual, the number plate out warning icon is orange, mines red and warns me to go to dealer. Wonder if only red icons get the 'go to dealer' threat?
