Morning all - was planning on replacing the trident badges on the rear 3/4 panels on my gts today (all the red bits have fallen out of the old ones) and was just wondering if anyone with experience of doing this had any sage advice on the best way to do it? Thanks in advance!!

Use dental floss to remove the badges off the glue backing then some form of solvent (I use isopropyl alcohol) to remove the sticky tape off the paintwork

Looks a bit orangey on that photo doesn't it? Not as bright in real life. So next challenge is the front badge - any advice on that one would be appreciated!

I've literally just done this. You have to remove the grill (push back the rubber bits around the perimeter to get to all the fasteners, you'll need torx bits). Then remove the air dam - about 6 more torx fasteners and then a bit of a tug to pull it out the way (it's a tight fit but it's flexible). Then you need a small socket on an extension to poke it up towards the back of the badge and under the securing nut. You should then be able to do the floss trick to de-stick the adhesive and jobs a carrot.

The result:

While the grill's out, you can think about replacing / re-painting the red stripes on that trident too! (I'm going down the re-paint route).

Interestingly the original badges seem to have red plastic infills to the tridents but the replacements are just painted.

Oh, big improvement! The old badge was maybe only 5 years old; they fade fast!

Regarding the bonnet Emblem. To save the faff, Emblem just drilled mine out and then stuck on the replacement.

I actually managed this with only removing the grill, used some blue-tac to identify the size of the nut, masked off the badge incase of any slippage when removing the old badge and then simply bolt in new badge. You need skinny hands and some faith that you don't drop the nut into the nose one off as your unscrewing it blind!56956569575695856959

I wonder if it depends on your model variant, I'm pretty sure it's impossible on my 2009 GTS MC, but my grill has the vertical slats and I have a black mesh grill as part of the air dam which, I think, made it impossible to access the underside of the badge ... but I could be wrong!

It does depend. Vampyrebat looks to have a GS.

I have pulled mine off the back of The GT today giving a wash. I went to halford for some glue and was recommended number plate stickers. Can anyone recommend the appropriate glue?

Don’t use glue, they might have to come off again some day. Get a new one, they are relatively cheap and guaranteed to stick.

The green backed thin numberplate tape at Halfords is awesome, just make sure it’s clean.
