Hi @redsonnylee, Please could you PM me details for retrieving the software, thanks in advance.

Is there an up-to-date source of the cables/gear we need to do this?

I’m out at the moment, I’ll pm the KWP software and instructions later, check earlier in this thread to make sure order the correct cables with the FTD chip installed.

Thanks!

By that do you mean this:

"FiatECUScan Compatible Interface Alfa Romeo / Fiat FTDI chip, FT232 chip VAG KKL USB OBD2 Fiatecuscan Finally,"

You have a pm for the files, there is a undiag user groupm on Yahoo, to be sure the correct cables are used "sander" the admin has these for sale.

If you can’t find the undiag user group let me know.

This type https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAG-KKL-...170007&hash=item46458f5469:g:sr4AAOSwHQ9WX9g0 does not have the ftd chip so you will not be able to make the connection. They all look the same so be careful.

OK, so the the three-pin connector isn't right, the pins are way too fat for the Maserati interface :frusty5:

Sorry to hear that, some photos of my cables for comparison, note I extended the red/black lead so I can connect to the car battery for power.

Thanks @redsonnylee

I've ordered a different one now, it looks like it has narrower pins, but can't be 100% sure as the pics were not great, if it fits, I'll edit my post above with the product page.

Hi, I had exactly the same problem as the first one i bought was slightly larger with wider contact pins. The replacement is OK:

The 3 'tubes' on the backshell seem to be a way of identifying the right part.

Could I also ask for a link to the software?

Thanks Tony, admirably prompt reply. Trawling thru the forum I picked up that the software should run on an ancient version of MS,such as MS 7. Does the software run on v.10 ? What system do you recommend ?

I use an old windows XP laptop. I’d suggest you borrow one first to ensure all the cables etc are working. I purchased mine on eBay a few years ago for £25.00. The software is too slow for the later versions. I never tried the later versions of windows. Btw I’m in Kingston, Surrey if you’re nearby you could borrow mine to test the connection.

Hi Tony,
I bought the correct cables from scantool, part #kkl316. The three pin cable has a red wire with a crocodile clip. Am I correct that this must be connected to the positive of the car battery ? I previously assumed there would be a negative connection on this cable,so the negative connection must be one of the three pins ?
