As above, just start again, you have to complete all the steps in order.
If you have power then it will be be of the settings.
check the settings again screen by screen before running they connection.
It may be worth you posting up photos of your settings.

I spent a bit of time getting it to work because I hadn't correctly named the comm port. Small error but it's vital.

From past experience it’s almost certainly a software settings issue. Start from the beginning of the instructions and go through everything. Even not having the port you’ve got it plugged into set as COM1 had an effect on the ones I’ve used. Does your software show the cable being connected at all even if it won’t communicate?
No connection being shown on screen even though the led is lit on the interface. I managed to connect a snapon scanner yesterday using the Fiat adapter lead and chose Alfa 146 in the drop down list as maserati wasn’t coming up and it turned out the engine warning light but the codes were unrecognised. So it’s now running well with no light on and out of limp mode, however I would like to find out what caused it and get to grips with Unidiag for future scans and issues that might arise. Appreciate the help and assistance from the forum though

Well , after over a month of messing about with this car and Unidiag I have been totally flummoxed.. can’t get anywhere with it. Not sure what to do now. I’m using a genuine vagcom interface that’s using the ftdi chipset and the Alfa 3 pin adapter plugged into the grey connector nr the throttle pedal. I’ve installed Unidiag onto a recently purchased old Toshiba laptop running windows xp just for this purpose, I open the program and can see the com port drop down list but when I connect it just comes up with a red error notice

On my Ducati with the three pin I think you had to use KWP 71 rather than 2000 but it was a long time ago

PS looking at your last screen you’ve got COM4 selected. Again from memory you have to use COM1 otherwise it doesn’t work.

You need to make sure that whatever user the software is running as has write privileges to the Desktop and the Unidiag folder. Best guess is the folder is read only.

Not sure what that means

Well the error is pretty basic. All it's saying is 'I'm trying to create this file, and I can't because I'm not allowed to'

On your desktop you have the Unidiag folder. If you right click on that, there will be a menu that pops up. One of the options will be 'properties' If you click on that you'll see the permissions. I suspect the box marked 'Read Only' will be ticked. (It's been a long time since I did this on old Windows)

Happy to talk you through it, or even sort it out for you if you're anywhere near me

Well I’ve spent over 24 hours sat in my 3200gt attempting to use Unidiag , am I the only person on here that can’t use it? Am I wasting my time? Great car , looks stunning but can’t trust it or go anywhere without the engine check light coming on and going into limp mode. It’s had the contactless throttle body and throttle pot done.. oxygen sensors done… and runs beautifully for a few minutes pulling my hair out now. I rang Shiltech at Loughborough and they said they struggle to plug them in also
is there anyone local to Nuneaton that can help

Sadly Coventry is nowhere near me. That doesn't look like you're in the right place (although you've done the right things. I'll DM you a number

Yesterday on my last ride a have the check engine light on.

Trying to diagnose it, any one could share the files to try install and pull the error codes?

Thanks in advance

my 3200 is from October 2000. I have read everything, I would like to know if today we have the definitive solution. My 3200 has a fixed connector under the dashboard on the left. I put an OBD plug that goes in fine, iLC OBD2 Wireless OBD, but it can't connect with the car ECU. Do you have the ultimate solution for this model?
