So I handed in my notice to quit as I am heading off to greener pastures (hopefully) in January

My manager was an utter unt and laid into me. Then instead of giving me gardening leave for the next three weeks instead I have been demoted to the office b!tch doing manual labour and stuffing envelopes. FML

out of order really and clearly a c0ck manager, but always best to grit your teeth and leave on good terms and not burn your bridges with employer references etc

Why, when you want to increase or start paying for something you can do it online.
Whenever you want to decrease or stop you have to have a +20 minute wait on the phone to then get told why you shouldn’t decrease or stop a payment. Forgot about all the sh1te that comes with owning property.

Agree with Wattie, HR are there for you and not just the business. Ask about your leavers interview. Don’t burn bridges but explain how you have be ostracised and sent to Coventry.

Tell me about it, even more difficult when you have moved country and they insist on you coming in for a chat.

Yes well he's a "young manager" (only a few years older than me so he's in his late 30's). Talks about well-being a lot but i realise now it is only a buzz word for him.

I agree with zag there is an element of no one else wanted the job and he peeped his head over the parapet so the excrement is floating at the top

The company is Italian so no local HR officer. I had the finance director pull me into his office to explain why i am leaving and what they need to do to fix their staff retention problem (someone leaves every six months and there are only 6 staff members and 2 managers/directors). I explained myself and told him i am extremely angry about my managers lack of restraint over his emotions. Shortly after my manager changed his tune and says I have done all the tasks they have for mw today and that I can go home early as the trains are ****** due to the swr strike (a seperate topic for a rant)

I have the email for the HR officer in Italy so i will keep that in my back pocket for now

I hope 2020 brings you a more prosperous year in your new role Shoghi................Agree with Wattie on this!!

Thanks Stu! 2019 has been a real sh1tter - mostly of my own doing... Poor decision making combined with not fully understanding my own abilities put me in a pretty bad situation. Learned a lot of lessons and have hopefully improved myself somewhat - hoping to bring it back round in 2020

Takes a man to admit that Shoghi!..............We are but human, and can only learn from our own mistakes. Took me a while before I realized that I wasn't perfect!

Although when I rang Constant Contact to quit my email marketing service, as you can't cancel online, they offered to cut the monthly cost in half. Which was nice.

To be fair he said he was just stuffing envelopes. Being sent to Coventry would be constructive dismissal - have you ever BEEN to Coventry??? :)

Ok, so that presumably means everything is squared away and you’re out.
Good.
Congrats and good luck in the new position.

Thanks Wattie I Appreciate the good vibes

I am not clear yet no gardening leave they are making up demeaning tasks for me. I have done letter stuffing clearing our cupboards of 30 years worth of ****... Now i am Clearing out their stock room of obsolete stock.

Oh well guess one way to look at it is that is that I am probably the most well paid day labourer in London! Lol! To be fair it is making me appreciate my actual job quite a lot!

Only 12 days left!! Woooooo!

Happy Birthday, Congratulations, and commiserations.

Or should it be commiserations all round?

Yes mate going to work as a retail account manager for a large British lighting manufacturer who are a Plc. It is less high end than what i have been doing previously but with the state of the economy no one wants to spend the big bucks on fancy lighting solutions.
