Too my mind you are perfectly fine using either lane, as it looks like there is a separate left turn lane, is there no road sign showing lane approaches and departures. Regardless, if your car is in front he should have been aware you were there.. and aware enough to take avoiding action even if you did change direction. He should be able to stop in the space he has in front, therefore he was too close anyway..

They owed you ?
No, they never owe you

I contract hired a van for 3 years, next one I bought,so instead of giving them vat they owed me vat, they were straight round for an inspection.

While going through some receipts he found one for a cafe, I'd claimed the vat on a £6 meal when they weren't vat registered.

Stern face , I'm going to go through 3 months receipts, if I find another discrepancy I'll need to see your last 3 years accounts.

I felt like I was sat in front of the headmaster looking at the cane on the wall.

.....My question is how legit is it turning right on the left lane of this roundabout... Everyone does it there but is it ilegal? The exit has room for two cars but the outside lane tapers into the inside.... I have scoured various websites and the highway code which suggests if there are no road markings then you can proceed ahead in either lane and did not pull into the Ford the must have understeered/ran out of talent

So what do you guys think? ......

I am not a lawyer or a road expert - DO NOT RELY ON THIS ADVICE!!

I'm sorry to say I don't think you have a good case for turning right from that lane, but the other driver should still not be driving into you, of course.

There seems to be nothing in the entry signage or road markings that would explicitly permit (or encourage) turning right from the left lane.

What you are seeing is a pretty clear standard T-shaped roundabout with 'exit left from left lane', 'exit right from right lane' rules, even if there does happen to be a slip road as well. O

And the single-lane exit explains why using both lanes for going right is not encouraged.

Meanwhile the Highway Code (rule 185) is pretty clear about what is supposed to happen at roundabouts, unless otherwise specified. Only Sat Nav thinks this is the 'second exit' - the highway code thinks it is the 'right exit'.

BUT, having said all that, even if you were doing the wrong thing, which is a minor indiscretion, if the other driver was behind you and drove into you, then they are at fault for not taking appropriate care. You could argue that what happened just before this is irrelevant as the other driver could see perfectly well where you were and should not have hit you. It might be different if you hit door-to-door as they could claim you were unexpectedly alongside and in the blind spot. But if he could see you, in front, and then tried to pass, then I would have thought the other driver is vulnerable to an accusation of 'careless' or 'dangerous' driving, and this suggestion might make them settle quickly. You could regretfully tell them that as you see it, either you will have to make certain of protecting yourself by reporting him to the police for driving into you (although it is a bit late for that) so you would 'win' any insurance battle, or might it be better for you both to agree on a nice private settlement.

Although if either of you have already told your insurers, you are screwed, as they will try to just do a quick knock-for-knock and increase both your premiums.

That said, the car behind has better chance of seeing the car in front so should not driving in to you and should give way.

And speaking of stupid junctions, this newish one on the southbound A329(M) north of Bracknell is forking ridiculous, with a one-lane slip road carrying almost all the traffic between the M4 and the M3, but a two-lane roundabout entry to the new housing estate.

Because of the floods both the bridges across the Severn in Worcester are closed so it’s a 16 mile detour to Holt Fleet if you want to cross. Anyone want to guess where the police have put the mobile speed camera today?

That would because of safety, it is purely coincidence that it will increase revenue

The filthy fecking dogs!
The missus filled out the on-line self-assessment and was told she owed about £5k in unpaid tax.

From October to December she gets a series of emails from HMRC reminding her to pay the tax owing before the 31st January or face incurring interest on the owed amount.

She paid the amount owing on the 10th January. On the 28th January, the full amount was refunded to her account. On the 13th February she got a demand from the HMRC for her to pay the full amount plus interest.

Absolute cunch of bucking funts.

I get about 20,000 emails a year. About 20 of these (0.1%) have the 'high importance' flag set. Half of these 20 are routine administrative communications from one person.

I don't know why this infuriates me, but it does.

Vodafone has promises like Maserati and the Alfieri.
Took out a new broadband and tv deal that includes an Apple TV and BT Sport, back in early February. Connection date of 21st. Great MotoGP season starts 8th March Broadband box turned up around the 18th, no apple tv. Called up, oh they should arrive together, have you not got it. Hour long call man says its been manually ordered. Should arrive in a week... A week later nothing. Called up again, call centre says I'll manually order it...
MLC-Wait what!
CC -It will arrive in 3-4 days.
MLC - Tells story of previous call
CC - I can only apologise but I will take personal care of your order. We will give you £8 compensation.
MLC - refuses, cites consumer rights act, quotes OFCOM complaints procedure.
CC - Offers 50% of next bill puts MLC on to the manager.
MOCC - Good evenink sir, I've looked at your conversation I can guarantee that your apple tv will arrive after 16th March.
MLC - states today's the 9th your colleague said 3-4 days meaning 12-13th
Manager, I can only apologise but I can assure you that it will arrive after the 16th.
MLC, and I can assure you that Christmas will arrive after the 16th of March.
Manager, I can only apologise but I can assure you that it will arrive after the 16th. I will take personal responsibility for this.
MLC - circular argument ensues. No swearing but manager easily caves in on two months free broadband.
MLC regrets not asking for 5 months as it'll be 5 weeks without the apple tv box from start of contract.
The wait continues....

Vodafone is truly awful.

I spent most of the summer of 2016 at war with Vodafone after my SureSignal box actually exploded., and the reluctantly-[provided replacement did not work.

Took about 5 months to get a refund and a PAC out of them. For the final month was getting almost daily conciliatory calls from the 'office of the CEO', but they still struggled to actually get anything done.
