Range Rover advice

L322 is monocoque, body can’t come off. L320 Sport shared the same chassis as the Discovery 3/4; body off for various fixes, but apparently it’s quite a straightforward process although labour-intensive and therefore ££££

To be fair, all I know is it’s a Range Rover :p

I was referring to parts availability for the P38 which in many ways is old school engineering.

I've seen posts on LR forums where they say they've drained and refilled without removing it but I didn't look at how they did it

It's working OK, gave it a test this afternoon, obviously not near any corners:p

A guy on one of the forums comes recommended for a gearbox flush, he's mobile with the machine to suck it all out and replace it, £300 for that
That‘ll be Bodsy.

Just picked up on this thread I had a p38 4.6 vogue about 10 years ago & loved it but make sure the coolant is clean ( no signs of copper particles ie radweld or whatever it was called in system ) as they can be prone to head gasket failure ( mine did & nikasil liners were prone to failure on later cast blocks ) also check central locking thoroughly as if the management unit under drivers seat is on the blink it’s a nightmare to fix.

It is, his name is mentioned on a few forums

It needs a new rear prop, £250 exchange so I'll get that done first then sort out a date with him.
I need my Range Rover gearbox oil done as well, I keep meaning to contact him.

He quoted me £290 for the 6 speed, I think it was £330 for the 8 speed, £190 to do both diffs and the transfer box

No mention of vat so I assume he trades under the threshold.

if my mechanic was still trading I would definitly have bought the 10 plate disco 4 I saw on facebook earlier this week with a running but knocking engine, £3400 ono which suggests it's 3k

Why's he not trading anymore Darren ?

Got offered a job as a truck mechanic for a firm with 20 trucks on money too good to turn down, free van & fuel to get there

He is paying for it though, he's 62, same age as me, a real grafter, a trailer lost a wheel on the M1, driver kept going until he'd worn the U bolts off holding the axle on

Steve drove 100 miles in that appalling rain a few weeks ago and laid in running water fixing it

Some days he made the wrong choice :D

Today I sold the Range Rover, owned for over four years, it was a pleasure, and I felt a bit of regret as it had been so good. I totally get them now. Thanks Ewan you kept her well prior to me with masses of documentation. I'll miss her but not the 11mpg and £160 to fill lol. A Stelvio took it's place.
