Deffo Hungary, my mate is Hungarian and bangs on about this, Sovs took over in 1946....
Yes, deffo Hungary.
Dern it - I had lots of great clues lined up....
After the Great War the Austro-Hungarian Empire was broken up, but Hungary (after a very brief republic, where they were duffed up by all their neighbours, and lost about half their territory), voted to go back to being a monarchy and to make Charles IV, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, their king. But all their neighbours said that if Charles came and took the throne they would invade. So Miklós Horthy became 'regent', and despite Charles trying twice to come and take his crown, Horthy stayed on as regent (and effectively dictator) until 1946. Meanwhile Charles was ignominiously shipped off to Madeira by the British and died shortly thereafter.
Wanderer; your go.
- Aside from an expense account and company car, what was Jerry's salary per annum, bearing in mind he was a senior executive at JJM, and had a mahooosive crib in Surbiton (actually house was in Northwood) and an expensive wife (Margot).
- What was Jerry's car, make, mode, colour and year?
Car, wrong...I have a strange memory that Jerry's car was a bronze Ford Granada with a black vinyl roof, but that might be nonsense.
On salary I would have to estimate. But rather pleasingly, when I started work in 1980, I was on exactly £5,000 pa, and when my father started work in 1952 he was on exactly £500 pa. (I was hoping one of my boys would start on £50,000, but that didn't work out.) So my guess is £10,000.
Pravda!Volvo Estate wasn't it?
It was also an automatic, like a QP6, Ghibli III or QP5 GTS...you lot should get out of the house a bit more
