Not the answer I'm looking for, I'm afraid. There may also be klaxons
However, your 'VERY FIRMLY' intrigues me. Care to elaborate?

Picture 1 shows the initial state.
Picture 2 shows the boat so firmly anchored so that it does not rise with the tide, and so the (weighted) rope ladder starts to be submerged
Picture 3 shows the boat (and rope ladder) rising with the tide and so the ladder does not get submerged at all (perhaps that was the droid you were looking for?)

But jonny was right, in my FIRMLY ANCHORED scenario, it is 4 hours, not 6. (I know something about boats, but my maths is poor.)

If you assume the bottom rung floats, then never.
If you assume the rung doesn't float (eg the ladder is fixed to the boat) then it takes 4 hours to move two feet to cover the next two rungs.
...and if you assume the boat floats?

I think MarkMas has the right of it by specifying that his boat does not rise with the tide. This is not my experience of boats, but WTF do I know :)
Of course the standard answer is it never covers the rungs as, if the boat is freer floating, the ladder moves up with the boat as the tide rises.

Mark, over to you, sir

The boat surely stays stationary in relation to the water level. So the tide is irrelevant. Edited as a reminder to check previous posts!

Which European Country was a Kingdom from 1920 to 1946 but throughout that period was not actually led by a monarch?

Was going to say Holland, but I'm pretty sure they still have a king and queen.
The Germans got rid of theirs with WW1 (Habsbergs I think).
Spain still have a King.
Italy?

Deffo Hungary, my mate is Hungarian and bangs on about this, Sovs took over in 1946....

Being a bit of a WW2 geek, I'm pretty sure the Russians rolled in in 1944 and didn't leave until the fall of communism in Eastern Europe in the early 90's?

I was in Hungary in the 80's working for the railways believe it or not - no sign of the Sovs, lots of bullet holes in buildings though.

Impossible language, similar to Finnish for some migratory reason. All the locos I remember were built by Skoda, some crackers. Metro system was superb and free, and lots of German style sausages. Lovely (twin) city Budapest, Buda and Pest.

My mate also showed me Hungary's only home-produced car, can't remember what it was though, certainly no Maserati...
