Here's one, I just read it while watching the new Doctor Who and doing a bit of research, I remember the the first doctor, just, and the second more , but my canon is Pertwee and Baker, after that never really watched it. I read a bit cos Jodie Whittaker is a Shat (swear filter off version S H A T) Lass, from Skelmansthorpe, not far from here. It was rubbish anyway but anyway...

Why was the first ever episode of Doctor Who broadcast on BBC1 delayed by 80 seconds? The answer is out there but just think about the first broadcast date and it might hit you. I missed the connection but now I know it's pretty logical...

It was JFK, according to t'interweb, so that's it. Another quick one, picture question for which I have no answer, was on another forum, what is this, it's purpose etc, feel free to google, there wasn't at any time any definite answer, bugged me for years!

Is it some sort of imperial weighing calculated? Some of the number patterns equate to imperial numbers
Well, that's the thing, I don't know, came up on another forum unrelated to Italian Sports Cars, nobody knew but I did find out if was something to do with Halifax, either town or name, I forget which, but nothing relating to it's function. Still a mystery....

Educated guess is its for calculating fabric lengths.

The scale on the right hand side is in 16ths of inches. Which would be used by tailors. If you look at the outside numbers 8 also shows 1/2 as 8 inches is half a foot or 8/16ths is half an inch.

Cloth suppliers would i suspect have used yards / feet / inches and 12ths of an inch. Which if you look at number 8 again it also shows 6/12 or 8/16ths of an inch is the same as 6/12ths.

I cant tell from the picture how the inner and outer dials move but at a guess you move the outer one with the black dot on it and the inner dial moves and adds the measurements up in some way.

If it did originate in yorkshire its the right neck of the woods for fabric as well.

My first thought was weights 16oz to 1 pound but i cant see any reason for 12ths other than if its inches.

All sound reasoned logic
