BTW, at my local Pub Quiz last night, the QM failed to show up, so each team made up 5 questions to ask. Went really well.

Was there a president called Nordman?
:)

Was it:
George Washington - no, that was a cherry tree
John Quincy Adams - no, a quince is more a shrub than a tree
George Bush (I and II) - no, ditto
Donald Stump - maybe

grrr... seems quite challenging to extract tree puns out of US Presidents' names....

I think the President was Harrison, I used to work with a chap of the same name that is why I know

Benjamin Harrison is one of the two recognised answers and the one with more evidence during the 1888-91 presidency but there is also reference to Franklin Pierce in the 1850s but different sources mention different years. The official White House history recognises Benjamin Harrisons tree as the first

I have just been listening to James O’Brian on LBC where he has a slot for people to pose questions and some are really thought provoking.

Today, some fella rang up and asked where grass seed comes from, he sounded very confused when he was told - Grass ! Just let it grow and it will go to seed o_O
