I note that the tone of answers has dropped this morning. Don’t berate me - or I will ask for a rebate.

It’s

I'm going to declare It's and T'is to be synonyms (and also just about words).
Obviously note and tone also would have counted, except that JonW used both of these in a non-synonymous context, striking a bum note, the tone of which could be heard even via typing.

I'm more worried that you think anyone on here would watch Pointless the purpose of the show is in the title

I adore Pointless, especially how relentlessly charming the hosts are, in the face of the ignorance of the contestants.
  • "We asked 100 people to name a US state that does NOT have the letter 'A'. You said 'Atlanta', let's see if if that's right, and let's see if its a nice low-scoring answer..."
  • "So you feel that the 'EB' who wrote Wuthering Heights could be Enid Blyton. Let's see...."
  • "Yes, a good effort by all the contestants, there. Alexander, perhaps you know the rest of these questions about France: What about the capital city, beginning with 'P'?"

There's a good one on 'Bottom' during the Pub Quiz episode....

Q. What's the capital of Germany Berlin?

The answer's in the question....

And one from a cryptic crossword is paternal and parental (and paternally, parentally etc).

OK, I'm going to declare jonny to be the winner for "paternal" & "parental" and "angered" & "enraged", but NOT for "evilnesslessly" & "vilenesslessly"!

Over to you!

I also have:
  • pat & tap
  • laudatory & adulatory
  • sterilize & listerize

Cheers Mark. I like laudatory and adulatory, new ones to me.

So a relatively simple question.
What do the following have in common: Early; Small; Late

Billy Butler on Radio Merseyside quiz "Hold yer Plums"
BB what side of the road do we drive on in the UK?
Caller, I don’t know, give us a clue,
BB go to the front door and have a look,
Caller after a long wait, I still don’t know, BB tearing his hair out, didn’t you see any cars?
Caller, yes but they are driving on both sides of the road.
