Hi-got delivery go my 66 Ghibli-overall super happy! Just finding bit odd that the upper 'roof' of the boot/trunk/luggage compartment is metal and has no lining or trim at all. Is this normal or is something missing?

Its normal. I queried this on my last one and after checking they confirmed this was normal... strange as it is!

Thanks much appreciated. Only would Maserati leave exposed bolts and uncovered metal in the boot of a 80k car!!

Hi G-Loc, nice looking Ghibli, what were you driving previously and how does this compare ? Is yours Petrol or Diesel and if Petrol is it an S ? I am fighting the urge to get a Granturismo and looking at getting a 2017+ low miles v6s ready to switch back to office working in October. Who did you buy from, Dealer of Private ?

Is a Petrol S version 66 plate. Previously was driving a 330d GT and a 4200 Cambiocorsa for weekends, but wanted to consolidate to 1 car that was a bit of fun but also carry wife+3 kids. My previous 'family cars' were all Alfas- two 156s and a 159 (all petrol) so nice to get back to the benzina! TBH the 330d GT was a incredibly competent and practical car, with no little speed either, but failed to stir the soul. The 4200 Coupe CC was a thing of beauty and the V8 thunderous, but always something expensive round the corner (despite having a wonderful independent nearby), the CC box prehistoric now we are all used the ZF boxes, and it hated slow traffic. Not to mention a satnav that ran off a CD, and every plastic surface gone sticky!

Driving the Ghibli S obviously is not as sonorous as the V8, but is nice and throaty in sport mode. Also I find myself driving it in (sport) manual mode so it can be revved long and high in the gears, and it sounds pretty good in kick down as well. I can honestly say I never had any desire to ever drive the BMW Sooter in manual. So overall much more fun in the car I end up spending 90% of my driving in anyway!

PS. Was a trade purchase. 37k miles, extended Mas warranty to Dec '21. It was the colour I wanted, with the dark grey wheels I wanted, luxury pack (extended alcantara on ceiling etc) and had the touch-screen infotainment which was also a prerequisite for me. BTW I found that private sellers were very sticky on price-may be not surprising-dealers willing to do a deal on a car they've paid £20k p/x for, vs a private seller who will be taking £10ks in depreciation even if they did not buy new.

PS. Also resisted the temptation to get a GT and keep the BMW. Even struck a deal on a 4.7S but inspection revealed too many issues such as rotting subframe (in a 2010 main dealer serviced car!). Worked out that the only GT I'd be willing to get would be the Sport and £35k for a weekend car too rich for my blood.

That looks really good, great spec and the paint really works on that shape, I always like cream leather interiors and with the piano black trim + blue paint it is a very good looking motor. I am facing the same issues.. my wife runs a 2018 C class coupe Merc so we have a 4 seat car already so really with 2 kids we need 5 seats for that extra passenger capability and i want an interesting daily driver for 50 mile work commute.

There are few V6s's around, as you no doubt found when looking, and prices are premium for the few 2017my - 66 plates that exist.... I have time yet, 2 months to find and sort one and am already prepared that If I just can't find an "S" then I will go for a V6 petrol with the lowest miles, best history and highest spec I can find.

Enjoy, that is a really nice motor !

They stopped doing the S a while ago now so probably why they are rare.
There are a few non S kicking about now at really good prices..

Did they bring them back? The Ghibli S is in the current Maserati UK configurator?

They must have done. Maybe it was while they got the emissions sorted? There was definitely a chunk of time when it wasn't available.

Interesting. That non-S you highlighted is a great price but you'll still be down £10+k depreciation after 18 months IMO. Do the non-S versions still get inferior brakes now? I considered betting a 3-4 yr old non S and chipping it but went with the 6-piston front brakes of the S in the end.

I think that has the bigger brakes. My diesel gransport does. The list of extras on them is immense.. LED matrix lights... electronic skyhook dampers... carbon interior... paddle shifters... sport seats.. 21 alloys

Yeah I saw that advert, bit over my mileage target, but if still around when I buy it will be one to check out.
I wouldn’t worry about the mileage more the service history and if the discs have been changed. The Ghibli needs a decent slug of power as it is a heavy lump being on the QP6 platform so needs good power and strong brakes.
