Anyone seen or know anything about this one?

FJ55JFK

I have enquired and made an offer as more of a punt really. It looks like it at least needs a clutch change as 44k miles and no history of one been changed before. Also might need more. Not too far from me and might be worth a look if the seller wants to think about entertaining a low offer. Otherwise it is not worth the risk I feel.

Maybe £2.5k-£3k for clutch/bearing etc. Then the EML light could be clutch related or maybe something additional. I'm told the subframe is good but I would reserve judgement until seeing it. I'm told the brakes and tyres have been changed fairly recently.

Did you buy it?

EDIT (9 Aug 2023):
Back in October 2022 this series of posts on Facebook (below) looked to me like a story of someone having a bit too much fun with their GT S. I was careful to anonymise the posts, as I had no idea what the underlying facts might be. The original poster was 'outed' by others, and has recently made the case that he did not, in fact, 'take the car to Dunsfold', but collected it from there. He also says that he replaced the diff as a conciencous owner, because it was a little noisy, not (as might be inferred) due to damaging it. This is very probably true. I have no personal insights about this car or its owner, and have not represented that I do. It is very possible, likely even, that it is a fine car and he is a wonderful chap. I regret that my original, lighthearted and anonymised, post might have implied otherwise, and any upset that the seller may have experienced. On the face of it, the car seems like a good value (high mileage) GT S, and I'm sure any serious potential buyer will form their own view, and not be influenced by anything that may or may not seem to have been implied by my original post below.

A short story on Facebook:

TL;DR:
  • Looking for a GT S in June last year
  • Bought one in February
  • Took it to Dusnfold straight away.
  • Looking for a replacement diff in June.
  • Selling in October.

adding BX10HND to enable search
diff blown dunsfold track day naive buyer caveat emptor

My assumption above based on nothing. Seems diff was replaced but never failed.
Comment 'caveat emptor' still applies. To anything !

The seller diagnosed it as a slight whine from high mileage - 120k. Apparently grit in the oil when he changed the oil. It seems he committed to buy a 37k replacement but of course you don’t know if he actually replaced it.

Edit: Seller confirmed on here that he did replace the diff - see further below

He bought a 2 ton, 11 year old Italian saloon with 120k on the clock to take on track days?
I think he bought the wrong car.

Edit.
Apparently it has now been confirmed the answer to my question above, based on the previous posts, was he didn’t buy a 2 ton Italian saloon with 120k miles to go on track days.

I did think it would have been an odd choice, and would have been the wrong car for such use. Glad that’s cleared up.

Just spotted this one owner ZF QPV on Autotrader, if I had somewhere to put it I'd nip down and have a look...

Looks a nice combination.
Subframe was noted as rusty a few years ago but nothing since.
Just wish they were that price this side of the Channel.

Mine's currently languishing your side of the Channel at the moment - practically identical, except a few more miles and no coolant! But also not for sale!

Maybe it would be easier just to buy the advertised one, and scrap yours in Europe...

My only concern would be if the last service was just an oil and filter change in 2019 it could be a big one now approaching 2023 especially if it needed the usual suspects.
Nice blue with black leather and red callipers :)
A Good PPI here chaps.

Mine's up for sale:
That looks really lovely and the interior as new! As Richard Grace says, the Sport GT is the one to go for. I suspect you will not be unhappy if it doesn't sell and you are able to enjoy it longer. You will regret it once gone!
