QPVI GTS Owners Views Sought.

Hi all, I'm looking at buying one of these as a low mileage daily driver with occasional long road trips. Fed up with boring, though accomplished, drives - mainly big German saloons. I'm not interested in views about personal tastes, looks, off-set steering wheel etc. etc. etc. Simply folk who would be good enough to say how they find these in the real world from an ownership standpoint. Accepting that everyone's opinions are just that, I don't care about cost, depreciation and any suchlike - eyes wide open and rose-tinted specs to one side. I am genuinely interested in knowing any model related issues - there are plenty for QPV's but I can't seem to find any for QPVI's ? Or, are they bullet proof, reliable and fault-free ? Many thanks for sharing. Cheers, Mark.

From memory there are only two forum members with QP VI GTS. There's "MarkC" who bought one a couple of months or so back, and "maserati_mcstradale" who's had one for a few years over in Switzerland. Try contacting them directly.

For what it's worth, I sourced one for the father of a friend of mine about 4 years ago. When the father died, it passed to my friend, who still has it and uses it regularly. It's proven to be just a reliable as any equivalent modern, high spec car, with no major issues. Right now they are a lot of car (and bhp) for the money.

Well built cars, few issues to my knowledge, just the usual, bodywork, brakes, tyres, service history.

Thank you for your reply Ewan. Sounds like the lack of negative issues could be true then. I would have thought that they have been around long enough for gremlins to have surfaced by now.

Thank you for your comments Dicky. I'm more than happy with "usual" stuff, and their respective costs - not going to do this on a shoe-string.

I am aware not everybody likes the QP6 but having owned a GTS for 3 years it’s ride comfort and performance was a considerable improvement on the QP5 which it replaced. No particular problems in over 50,000 miles.

Its a beautiful daily car, nice for long drives and fast. Its been a pretty much faultless ownership experience & mines getting close to 40,000kms. I've got brakes coming up on my next service and this car likes to go through the tyres. Only issue that happened to me was the glove box locking its self and no longer opening. Maserati quoted me $2000 to fix the glove box so thats something I'll fix when I sell the car.

Thank you Mike. To be honest, I rather like the awesome pressence of the QP6. Very happy to hear of your experience over quite some miles - I won't do anywhere near that. Or there again, I might........

Thank you for your reply. This is just getting better and once again seems to reinforce my thoughts. Strange glove box issue though but that won't put me off.

Hi sorry for the delay. On holiday. Whilst I haven’t done the sort of miles others have I think you have summed it up yourself: awesome presence. Yes the tech is old if that’s your thing. Doesn’t bother me. No issues, other than a light ballast that needs sorting but I guess that wear and tear. And obviously goes like sh!t off a rake!

Thank you for taking the time out to comment Mark. My current drive is 23 years old - tech doesn't bother me in the slightest - it's the driving that counts for me. This could well be my last car and I want something that will stir the soul. And this is now 4 "real" reports that don't have any horror stories that I was partly fearing. Seems like I have the answer to my question.......

I think the fact that there are so few owners on here, is possibly a testament to the build quality and reliability of them? People don't generally join forums to talk about how good their cars are, it's normally to seek help with issues etc whether minor or major.

Well, it could be partly that.... Anyway.

Good point Sam and exactly why I posted. If this forum had been a refuge for owners with problems, they don't seem to be forthcoming. To be honest, I didn't expect to get many replies, these are rare cars to say the least and I'm really happy with how this exercise has gone. As you say, build quality ( very different from my other Italian car experiences ) could be as good as I had hoped.

I love these, get one!

Well, you didn't come here to be told not to buy one....
Not at all, and to be honest I tend to ignore anyone who says don't do something - I like to make my own bad decisions because the experiences are generally worth it.........
