Has anyone used the launch control on their Sport GTS? Are there any adverse effects on the drive train if you use it a lot? I’ve been tempted to use it but thought best to ask here first…not sure if the GT in any form also has it, if so, I presume it would be the same…works in Auto mode, Sport mode witched on, switch off traction control, left foot on brake, keep revs at 2500, release brake to go (and floor it I presume)

Yes I have used it once…..suspect it’s better with a clutch than a torque converter- no ill affects but not sure how much it added to the ride given how quickly 3000rpm comes up!

I tried one foot on the brake, and other on the accelerator in my QP 4.2 ZF once. Got a nasty grating clicking noise so haven't tried that again! Anyone have any idea of what was going on? Why was it objecting to being held on the brake while building up revs...

I was informed on the other place that there is a launch control on the DS, pull back both paddles for 30 secs and off. Tried it, got Transmission Failure’. Worked fine normally after that, confusing signal I assumed.

There isn’t a launch control on the MC Shift as far as I know. I like my clutch too much to try anything anyway.

These launch systems are generally intended to protect things like driveshafts and the like, at the expense of the clutch (not an issue on an auto) so it’s a no from me.

So in my GS, foot on brake, pull both paddles for maybe 10seconds and i get this with a beeping. This is with the car in neutral, so it shifts into first, and when i release the paddles everything goes back to normal

@IanU tried out his launch control at Imola....
Eb
yes I did. Left foot on the brake, I pushed it to 3000rpm and let the brake go ... I didn't have the nuts to turn the TC off though (I didn't want to end up taking out whoever was behind me if it all went PT) - short chirp from the rears and off I went ...
I haven't tried it again

I don’t think the MC shift cars or the Strad are great “off the line” but am sure I read somewhere you can hold them briefly of the brake to build a little torque into the drive chain and get the clutch engaged. I do this occasionally (most recently in the centre of Arnage and it’s definitely makes a difference) I am talking “milliseconds” of holding though …… clutch £££££

I know this is an older thread, but inquiring minds want to know. I have a 2010 Sport GT S, and can't find the launch control instructions anywhere...I gotta try it at least once! Anyone know the procedure?

You should have a supplement pack for the GTS (10 page white booklet) and that has all the information…

"As well as sounding great, the GT S impresses out on the open road. The slightest squeeze of the throttle is accompanied by the needle sweeping towards the 7,200rpm red line, and it gives you a real shove in the back. To extract maximum performance there’s the ‘MC Start Strategy’ – a flowery name for a sporty launch control system. To make it work, simply turn off the traction control, hold the brake pedal and dial up 2,500rpm before releasing it. The two-tonne saloon is fired from 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds – 0.3 seconds faster than the S."

I tried to try it on my 4.2 QP Auto... (not advisable)

Got a nasty machine gun noise (briefly) from the ZF gearbox as I tried to hold it on the brake while pressing the accelerator. Didn't try that again!

However @IanU of this parish put on his brave pants and tried it with his QP GT S when we went round Imola on The Tuscan Tea Party trip
