Based on some recommendations and reading around on the forums, this is the battery that receives recommendations and praise amongst SM members: https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/exide/ea1000/

Is there anything to consider when removing the old battery and installing the new one? I recently changed one in my XK8 and found a handy guide (here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/...h-idle-jtis-2003-xk8-battery-reconnection-pdf) and I was hopeful this wouldn't be any more complex...

Thanks.

When you do connect the new battery, let the car sit for 10 minutes before doing anything like inserting key. I went too fast and had lights. disconnected , waited, then reconnected and waited first, then it was fine.

EDIT: Autofficina (Epsom) have very kindly offered to fit the new battery I've ordered, free of charge. I know it won't take more than 10/15minutes of their time, but thought it was a nice gesture all the same...

Very nice. Would take you 5 minutes, but... ;)

Right, new battery fitted today and all seems to be going well after some quintessential Maserati 'silly buggers' electrical issues popping up last week.

And the fuel flap is working without incident, too. £108 to fill her up just after the low fuel light came on. I think I'm going to have to start living in the car..

I am going to replace my battery on a QP5 2009 4.2L in a few days. I am looking at either the Exide mentioned above or the higher spec (mAh/A) more expensive 5Y Guarantee Yuasa:

Yuasa HSB019 Silver 12V Car Battery 5 Year Guarantee Extra Info
  • Startup Power: 900amps
  • AH Value: 100ah
  • Bench Charge: 6 Amps
  • Average Weight: 23.40kg
  • Dimensions (LxDxH): 353x175x190mm
  • Guarantee: 5 years
  • Sealed maintenance free (SMF)
In terms of post-changing the battery from the 2009 Maserati Academy guidance it says to: key on, don't start engine hold for 20 seconds, key off. This is so the ECU can re-calibrate. Any other advice on this point?

I bought the above from Halford and fitted it. All is working fine except the connections to the battery terminals slip off however I tighten the nuts. I'll have to have another play this evening.

When I was charging my old battery yesterday it began making a fizzling and gurgling noise...

I fitted a Yuasa to the Micra yesterday. The terminals had additional lead sleeves, one of which was stuck into the plastic cap. Sure the same hasn't happened?
