QPV Door Hinges - Copper Lubricant?

My QPV rear passenger door hinges have always been a bit creaky, and have a residue that might be copper lubricant, or might be rust. But the rear door on the driver's side is getting really noisy now, and today there appears to be actual water just resting on the hinge (both sides), which is a bit worrying. Is it rust or copper or both? What lubricant should I be using?Hinge.jpg

I use spray on motorcycle chain lube as it's what I've always got, most garages use a spray on grease of one form or another which is very similar. They're both quite runny when first applied so penetrate well and then "dry" so they don't wash or drip off

Agree usually a spray type grease, lithium sometimes. I think coppaslip type stuff may be a bit too messy.

I think that looks like a coating-typically used on bare metal surfaces of machine tools post manufacture and between shelf and sale..I might be wrong. Its a sort of grease that's applied wet and dries quite significantly but creating a decent barrier against moisture. It is intended to be removed from sliding surfaces like lathe beds, drill press posts whatever..?
I tend to use a lithium soap grease. (white grease) From a can, quite liquid as they use a propellant which dries leaving the thicker white grease in place...
The only possible issue with using a non specific (but quite likely adequate) grease is the rubber(?) gaitors. As long as you arent smearing lubricant all over the rubber- you shouldnt have a problem....

Looks like rust to me and I would be giving them a good spray with WD40 or equivalent and cleaning them up.
Once clear of the rust I would be using Wurth HS2000 but that's my preference.

Only when I go to Emblem and I'm waiting on the naughty step for them to deliver their verdict

White grease is the lubricant of choice for things like hinges, comes in an aerosol, used by most garages, well the ones that bother, easily sourced from the likes of halfauds.

Probably won't make the noise stop. IME once check straps start creaking and groaning....
YMMV

Suspect they are buggered...had mine replaced this year and the new parts have been re-engineered to last longer - I now have silent rear doors! Just so you know - this is a pig of a job so outsource it!
