QPV - Alloy Wheel colour code?

Hi gents,

I have the multi-trident design wheels below... but they've been refurbed at some point in their lives to a much darker chrome.

As they're badly curbed, now is the perfect time to restore them but also get them back to their OEM-spec colour of Dark Chrome, as per the brochure excerpt below.

I've recently made enquiries with my local alloy restorer and I explained my situation - they assured me that the Dark Chrome colour is actually 'Shadow Chrome' as per manufacturer specs... has anyone else had any experience in this field?

Cheers

never managed to find any actual code myself, so good luck. Managed to get something like that on both the 3200 and my QPV
Interestingly I now want to go back to the standard silver 20" look on mine :)

Thanks rs. I wonder if I email Maserati themselves whether they'll be able (and willing) to help...

EDIT: I've emailed them, let's see what they say!

Stay darker....I love them in the colour you have. It's what attracted me to your car when it was for sale. Lovely contrast with the grey.

So this is the official line from Maserati:

"Thank you for contacting Maserati and for your Email dated 28 July 2020.

With reference to your enquiry, it was our priority to proceed with the necessary internal checks in order to be able to provide you with a timely feedback.

After taking the necessary verifications we would like to inform you that we do not authorize the repainting of the wheel trims as related numerous anomalies may arise.

As a result of this, unfortunately in this instance we are unable to supply the relative colour code.

We thank you for your continued trust in our Brand and naturally, should you require any further assistance, we remain at your complete disposal."

I guess I shouldn't act so surprised!

Thanks Andy...

With a bit of research, here's what my car looked like when it was up for sale some years back:
73541

And here's how she looked for the previous owner:
73542

For me, the original colour is a little too 'bright' and the way they are today, just a bit too dark. I think the below picture is another GTS in Grigio Nuvolari, with 'dark chrome' wheels:

73540

That's what I'm aiming for!

Still love how they look now but what you are looking for looks good also. Original as you say is too light for me also.

Can we not find an original dark chrome wheel between us and have it analysed? This we could create the SM recipe?

WTF!?
I wonder what these ‘anomalies’ are?
I presume they would rather you buy a new set!
Not that you would, but I presume this means if your asked a Maserati dealer they wouldn’t be allowed to refurb your wheels, only replace them...

It’s mad, but I also agree with your presumption... only way to find out I guess would be to go to a main Dealer, but there’s no chance I’ll be doing that!

I found some old posts referenced to Formula Dynamics which agree with namaste - PPG paint code is 226679 (Grigio Mercury) which is what the colour was called in later Granturismo wheel options brochures

We want pictures MakeshiftUK when you get it done....

it is oxide - the yellow is actually orange (looking at the chock). Great idea btw.
Watching with interest too. Maybe I might stick with the halfway house between silver and dark grey. Currently have all three shades on the QP

I think Devonboy was doing his best to belittle me, and his retort may also have been construed as an attempt at humour... however, he has failed yet again ;):D

The chock BTW is because the parking brake seems to get a bit 'stuck' when driving off, particularly when it's rained overnight... horror stories have circulated around here of the rear braking mechanism ripping itself apart, resulting in costly work and big bills... so I hit 'park off' and stick a chock underneath it (although arguably it 'should' hold itself, without a chock - belts and braces and all that).

Car dropped off this afternoon, fingers crossed!
