Having done a few when I worked in a Dealership it's a very time consuming job doing it as per factory using dial gauges.
Best to get the caps done through Maserati and have a paper trail to back up the work.

Hi Phil. Many thanks for taking the time to reply - really appreciated. From my understanding of watching videos providing the variators aren't changed then the dial gauges aren't required as the timing isn't touched ? Plan would to just do the modified cams first to see how it goes and then maybe do the variators thereafter if it's still a problem.
